MarvelGirl, I am not sure what I would do if offered a square box. Maybe not buy it?
My storage in my closet is set-up for rectangular boxes for GMs.

Oh my, Vigee! You really don't like the square box if it would keep you from buying. ;) I must admit it would be annoying since it seems we all have built our closets around those beloved rectangular boxes. Could be the square boxes are just what we need to stay on our bans! Square box = no buy. Maybe they are a blessing in disguise then...? :p

Me too, the square boxes mess up the original folds on my shawls (yes, I'm OCD about folding the shawls back to its original folds).

I thought I was the only one who did this! :p I always re-fold my scarves and shawls to the original folds!

if they discontinue the rectangular boxes, this will completely mess up my storage system.

gosh, i hope that is not true...one of my local stores always run out of the rectangular boxes..i always have to go back to get some when they get the boxes in....the SA who has worked there for many years told me that when shawls first came out, they were sold in the square boxes!!

I remember the square boxes, but they were not the same as the 90cm boxes - they were deeper. The boxes used for the GMs now were used for other items, I think, like the mousselines. I had forgotten about the deeper square boxes - they were easier to stack with the carrè boxes.

Agreed, Chestnutty!

+1. My GMs are always folded back to their original folds! Once I got a moussie box and it rocked my world:p

Sorry, just rememberd that I still owe you "leila"...
These are Iphone Pictures, I just wanted to give you an idea of how the Shawl Looks like.
Outfit ist no Outfit, it is "going to bed wear".....

Soooo pretty, Katika! It looks so elegant! Wonderful addition to your collection!

I totally do this too! I'm trying to quit, however-- I was once advised by a museum curator that repeatedly re-folding textiles along the same lines can weaken them over time, as it creates stress on the fabric at the folds. So I tell myself as I take my shawl off not to do it, but then I see those creases and just can't seem to resist following them.

Silkies - the cashmere brush from the laundress arrived today. With great trepidation, I used it and it was a success. Here are some before and after shots. I was having a hard time getting the exact same area in each shot so you might have to do some rotating in your head iykwim. I think the areas in question have improved significantly and I would give the product high marks.
It took awhile to get the pressure right but luckily I do not see shifting of the fibers. HTH

Thanks for sharing your amazing results, MYH!

This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Who needs anything more than pajamas with such a stunning shawl to wear?

Oh gosh, I usually fold the creases back too....but now you have me thinking!! Thanks for sharing!

I must be the only weirdo to not store my shawls in their rectangular boxes. I keep them stored in a drawer slightly folded up (so they can fit) and not really a stickler for having the original lines. Please tell me I'm not the only person who does this?!

Nico, my BFF doesn't keep her GMs in boxes, you are not alone! :smile1:

Me either! Mine are in a drawer similar to the way the H boutique stores them. I love them this way. I can see at a glance which one I want to wear. I will take a pic when I get a chance. I also don't care about the original fold lines.

Thanks ladies for the reassurance! For a minute I was wondering if I was doing something wrong with the care taking of my shawls.

MYH, I remember you mentioning this to me and I've followed suit. :hugs: Admittedly it's not looking so H boutique like currently as I've been wearing my shawls daily and got a bit lazy in putting them back. :p

The ideal way to store textiles is to roll them, but I am guilty of returning to the folds as well.
