I must be the only weirdo to not store my shawls in their rectangular boxes. I keep them stored in a drawer slightly folded up (so they can fit) and not really a stickler for having the original lines. Please tell me I'm not the only person who does this?!

Nico, you are not weird! I am even worse than you. I don't fold them into original folds at all. Some of them are hanging in my wardrobe; some are folded and all stacked in a bigger/deeper rectangular box (H shirt box I think). I only have one summer silk currently resting in a proper rectangular box.

:hugs: I'm so happy to hear that! I have all my DDs and 90cm silks hanging in my closet too. If I didn't have kitties, I'm sure my scarves would be laying about my bedroom as well. I've also done the unthinkable and taken off the care tags and steamed out some folds. :p I debated for a long time about it, but some scarves just look better where the tag is and I hate when it sticks out so off they went!

xiangxiang and Nico, you are really proving that I am OCD! All of my H is stored away in boxes, except my bags which are in their dust bags :flowers:

Vigee, it's not OCD until you have a database on your collection. :graucho: I am guilty of that one.

I used to store my scarves in boxes with a label on them, but it became too tedious for me. I'm a visual person and like to see all my options laid out before choosing one for my outfit. Perhaps this is just a sign I have too many scarves? I guess there is no wrong or right way, just the one that works best for you. I have all my bags in their dust bags too. :hugs:

Nico, don't have a database yet! I did start an excel spreadsheet but gave up :smile1:

My GMs are stored with labels on the boxes, but my silks are a mess. All in boxes and unlabeled ~ no small wonder that I don't wear them!

I am very tempted to remove the tag on my only DD but I am too afraid of damaging the hem. One of those days when I feel my hand is steady enough I will do it. I am sure of it.

Right now all my 90s are in their boxes apart from one. Most of my bags are in dust bags. Phew!!

xiangxiang, there is no way my hands are steady enough to remove the care tags! I couldn't risk it.

That is the exactly the scarf that started the tag removal for me! I hate the tags on the DD, they are just massive. I use my thread puller and carefully slice through the thread that sits on top of the tag first, this way it loosens it up before I go in for more delicate "surgery". So far no damage has been done, but maybe for the first time use a scarf that isn't a beloved one. ;)

I only have 5 GMs but you can get an idea of how I store them. Basically folded into a rectangle that's the same shape as the box and then folded into thirds.

Thanks ladies for the reassurance! For a minute I was wondering if I was doing something wrong with the care taking of my shawls.

MYH, I remember you mentioning this to me and I've followed suit. :hugs: Admittedly it's not looking so H boutique like currently as I've been wearing my shawls daily and got a bit lazy in putting them back. :p

I am pretty diligent about putting back H scarves but the rest of my clothes! They are all over the place

The ideal way to store textiles is to roll them, but I am guilty of returning to the folds as well.
Good idea! Maybe I will try this next.

I take my care tags off too. I can't stand them.

I am the worst. My One and only H bag sits on the dining room table when it's not in use. No dust bag, no stuffing. Is this considered abuse?

 I guess it depends on how often you use it or not. If you're switching into it every weekend or so, I think it's fine. But if you're going for months not touching it, maybe some stuffing is good to help keep it's shape?

Thx very much for the inspiration. I might try this out one of these days.

I discovered that keeping cats is great. They train u to take good care of your expensive accessories. I never leave my scarves or bags or clothes exposed. The least they do is to sleep on my stuff!

 Never thought of it that way! I have often found them snuggled up in my clothes that I've left on the bed. God forbid I leave a scarf there, one already got a claw into my CDC shawl. Nearly died!

I finally brought this baby home! With months of waiting and eventually it still came after the price increase. *sigh*.
