Melora, this thread is absolutely delicious! I was a serious student of the flute when I was young... the complete opposite of an organ! Extremely portable, and just one line of music to worry about! But the organ has always fascinated me, and I love listening to organ music being played... especially in a wonderful setting.
In fact, now that I think of it, most organs are in wonderful settings! Usually churches, often old ones. There is a wonderful organ in the Carmel Mission; DH and I have attended some terrific concerts there. Our favorites have been at Christmastime, when the Mission is lit by candlelight. And then, in the summer, the Bach Festival... more organ music!
Now I want my very own Point dOrgue, to wear to one of these concerts! Melora! What have you done to me??? Here I am, saving my pennies for Turandot...
