Hi,
Maybe someone here can help me as I am not a Hermès expert! I have a beautiful sheer silk Ex Libris Hermès mousseline scarf which belonged to my late mother who was French. I have attached some photos. I would guess she bought it in the late seventies. It is not a carré, it is made of very sheer silk, approx 168 cm long and 57 cm wide. It is made from one length of silk originally 114 cm wide, doubled over and very subtly machine-stitched down one side in order to give a double layer of sheer silk. The background colour is a pale mint, and at either end of the scarf is a circular equestrian image printed onto the fabric in deeper tones of turquoise. My question is (and I have been asked this by other people) - did Hermès ever machine-stitch their mousseline scarves? It is beautifully done, folded in about a centimetre and almsot invisible stitching, but it isn't by hand. Thanks for any help!
