Do you mind sharing the date code of your new bag? Curious if they're still making box leather bags recently. I keep seeing new offers made in 2022 (U code).
Looking at SS 25 show it seems like they going back to heritage leathers more. So it’s possible to assume we are going to see more box leather in 2025.
I’ve got W stamp (2024) on my Kelly. Also I’ve seen Bastia card holders in 2 box leather colors in the store so they are making some SLG as well.

Hi everyone, question for the box Kelly owners out there. In the sallier style is the bag easy to use? I have box on my wishlist for this year and trying to settle on size. I usually prefer a size 28 as it's big enough for my daily essentials but also small enough that it doesn't feel in the way or a hassle to carry. The only other size I'd consider is a 25 but worried that might just be too small to really be functional (I like space for a small hairbrush, sunglasses, phone at a minimum without it feeling jammed). I love the shine of box, and I do prefer the sallier style as I like more of a structured bag, but worried if in smaller sizes it's a bit too stiff to get in and out of? Maybe a silly qustion but seeing the recent offers in what appear to be 28s/25s, curious if anyone has feedback about their experiene thus far :)

My K25 is extremely, extremely stiff and very difficult to open and close. I sure hope it softens with time. I think I need to break it in, I just never reach for it because it’s such a pain to use.

I have a selliers in both - 28 in box and 25's in epsom, barenia, and chevre. The 28 is definitely easier to get in and out off, but I wouldn't say the 25s are that much harder. I love the 25s but the 28 is much more practial for everyday. The difference in capacity of the two sizes is pretty material, so if you're concerned about carrying capacity then opt for the 28.

I have a sellier k25 in box. Love it dearly but to be honest it is the hardest bag to get in and out of, as oppose to Epsom, Chevre and barenia faubourg in the same size 25.

I have a K28 box and it’s work to get in and out, partially because I’m conscious of scratches. My K28 retourne in togo is easy to get in and out. I love the size. Generous for daily gear but not too big

Agree 💯
My Box Kelly selliers are 28 and 32. K25 sellier is Epsom. I don’t find them much hardier to get in and out of. If you want a K25, a sunglass case (exposed temples) like one by valextra helps. And a card case, not a wallet.

I have a K28 sellier in box - its a few months old and I agree with everyone that it is difficult to get in and out.
I actually wear it open because it's much easier for everyday use. The bag is quite stiff even when its undone so I am not concerned anyone would be successful in smoothly "stealing" something out of the bag.

That being said - I tried K25 in epsom and found it equally difficult to access - so I don't think its related to size.

If you are concerned about space I would go for K28 - I pack the essentials: wallet, keys, small beauty pouch, sunglasses, phone and a folded nylon tote bag in case it rains (I live in London) and it all fits perfectly - but I imagine it would be snug on a K25.

Sidenote - I would consider what is the most likely scenario you will use the bag - for me it was more of an everyday bag so K25 was out of the question as it felt too small for my daily needs.

Box will remain stiff, to me that's the beauty of it and it's perfect for the Sellier style. My Kelly from 1981 is probably as stiff as when it was brand new. I find these bags in Box, Epsom, even exotics perhaps, are not as easily accessed but I don't mind, the flap gives me a slight advantage of feeling more secure. If access is very important perhaps consider a Birkin Sellier instead?

Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses! I don't mind some stiffness and prefer a more structured look, so I think a 28 should work for me. I have a 28 in epsom and have no problems with that. I was just wondering if I should be more open to a 25 as well but seems like that might just be a bit too cumbersome so I should stick with 28 as my go to size. Fingers crossed, if I get lucky this year will come back with pictures :)

I have a 28 box that I’ve used 2x. It’s very very stiff but I do love it! Not difficult to get in/out …. I wouldn’t get a smaller Kelly though in box. Would be tough.

Hi all!

i have a K25S in etoupe epsom and contemplating between a K25S or B25S in black box from a local reseller

i’m rather clumsy with my bags though so far my K25S has survived so far

i’m undecided between which is more versatile and easier to manage in black box leather

black box leather looks so beautiful and i love how i can wear something casual and mix with it

i typically would purchase a my iced Starbucks and sling my K25 over the shoulders or have my handsfree if i’m carrying my B35 on my elbow

can anyone share their experiences between these 2 styles in birkin or kelly?

while i love the look in a B25S, i’m worried it might look too briefcasey and formal
yet it still looks so pretty
and im worried that i might get water spots if my iced drinks drips onto the bag or be conscious about making sure my hands are completely dry before i hold the handles (though it would probably be better to use a twilly)

the K25S on the other hand looks so much easier to manage because i can sling it and be handsfree
though i’m also worried about accessing stuff and scratching the K25S since i have long nails
my K25S in epsom is so far managable as i dont carry alot but i do need to reach out for my wallet or to swop between my office mobile vs my personal mobile

i wouldnt carry my bags to brave the rain so watermarks should be unlikely unless from my iced drinks

im worried about scratches and fold lines though, though i do know what a bag is meant to be used and each scratch has a story like my stretchmarks and cellulite 😂
probably have to get past the first scratch

the local reseller i trust only has a 2007 K25S on sale or 2024 B25S
both in black box GHW

pls share which style you prefer and is easier to maintain/protect in black box leather

thank u all!!

you quickly learn to be careful with box - especially if you have long finger nails
if you have a birkin, you might just tuck the flap in the back and never close it with
the flap over the turnlock from the day you buy it - danger of fastening fingernail scratches removed
with a Kelly you have fasten it and take extra care every time - you soon get used to it

similarly you will be alert to condensation water droplets from your iced drinks and mop them off immediately

if you really love box, these considerations will be insignificant and you will use it and enjoy it
by nature I take care of all my possessions, so am not advocating careless abandon
my box bags are used normally and do not show signs of wear
BUT if you want a box bag to remain pristine for the rest of its life, then perhaps it is not the skin for you - regardless of style
box calf was originally developed for footwear, so you might consider to be more robust than is generally thought
