So, yesterday I went to my boutique. It really was a great shopping day… and I asked for a bag… I told the SA that I was thinking of this bag for a moment already but before committing to a true wish I wanted to try it on in any color or leather. The bag is a Constance mini and I would love it in black box with PHW. He smiled and told me I would have to wait quite some time… probably years… then he told me to let him check one in Clemence or another one for me to try… and as you can guess after a few minutes he comes back with a huge smile… I found something for you. I was absolutely stunned and not ready to commit so quickly. But once I tried it on, it was lové at first sight. I never felt soooooooo in love with a Leather … it shines, it sparkles, it is just amazing. I was literally so surprised.
I love the brand for this situations, they always suprise me the most when I least expect it. (No fairies, just bear in mind I don’t ask for bags every time)

A picture still in the shop.

I’ve read this whole thread from back to front, and what a resource it is. Thank you ladies!

I’ve managed to acquire a 1993, BBK 28 Sellier in beautiful condition from Collectors Square in Paris on my recent trip during the Olympics.

Maybe this has been answered previously. However I cannot find it. Does anyone know what the interior leather is of these bags? Calfskin? Swift? The inside flap of course is box.

@steve.b congratulations on your beautiful Constance. The only bag I want next (next year or year after as I’m in no rush) is either box Constance (or Constance croc but undecided as of now). I love all things box. Enjoy and congrats!! 🎊🍾

Chèvre goat

So I tried conditioning my box calf jumping boots today and it looks like the dye came off with both black rock conditioner (left cotton ball) with just water (right cotton ball). Has this happened to anyone else? I was testing it on my boots before using it on my mini Kelly. Now I am a bit nervous about pulling the dye off the leather.

I think what you’re seeing is polish, not dye. I’ve had that happen, panicked, but realized it was left over polish. As @docride says ‘like dissolves likek and BR will remove old polish. Unless you’re scrubbing like crazy, which please do not, it shouldn’t pull dye.

Oh good to know! Thank you. Though I guess this was polish that hermes used prior to sale? I have never polished these boots before. Only wore them once.

I have wiped my non-box bags down with lexol and even just water sometimes. I have never seen this happen in the past. Is this something specific to box?

I will say these boots look much better after the black rock. I guess after sitting in my closet for two years collecting dust they were rather dry and dull. Now the leather is shining again

I believe most finished leathers will have some polish when leaving the factory. Water won’t dissolve polish, like dissolves like, so there is something in BR that will dissolve polish. I prefer BR because it’s a great product for moisture but it’s tough to use. Doc has some other products that are great but don’t have the same issue as BR. Perhaps you could search those out.
DocRide does advise against using BlackRock on bags unless you are very experienced
because people tend to use too much
Agree, this hasn’t been recommended for some time. I still use it as my go-to but I make sure I’m careful with how much. It’s hard to get it buffed and is a sticky mess if you’re too heavy handed.

In this case I used a cotton ball with just water (right cotton ball) and it had the same effect.

Perhaps you could post this in Doc’s leather thread. What I know would fit in a thimble. I mostly have only box and water will only lift if I’m scrubbing a lot. I recommend asking doc the question, she’s the guru on this stuff.
