I find carrying heavy things so much more comfortable with a hand carried bag ,I fell for the GP style because my beloved Amazonia has been a gem.It's just gone over the hill from edgy to train wreck . My Evelyne kills my shoulder when I carry a lot , but the Toile Barenia is the lightest of them all .
I'll PM you to ask about the Toile care.And I just bought some new dark wash jeans , note to self not to wear them with the GP!

You are right about ease of hand carry vs. shoulder froufrou. Because I take public transit at times between meetings, I like having a tote that closes up. Since GP is hand carry, you have little contact with dark denim so you should be just fine, it's terrific to travel with too. I don't do anything with my plume. Really hardy and it does not get dirt on its sides unless I spill something and that hasn't happened yet.

Silky City is on my list too Sammy Royal ,and if you ask me this one with the Coup de Fouet design is well nigh perfect.
I fell for this bag after seeing a tpfer carrying hers in Tigre Royal .It's just so so cool and perfect for days when it's too hot for a scarf.
