Absolutely adorable, Sophie!!

I've never handled the scarf before so I have never seen these details up close, and certainly didn't realize that it features many different gardens from different periods in history. I think I appreciate this design a lot more now. Thank you!

Wonderful!

So beautiful..this CW is just lovely. Thanks for the pics and the tutorial.:flowers:

Beautiful scarf, and beautifully documented with pictorial references. Brava, Sophie!

Thank you, dear Tango, CBL, QKay, JRTGal and Elaine for your kind words :flowers:

I had fun going through the short explanation on the H website and finding the matching pictures. The Galeries Lafayette one is purely my own imagination, however!

I was very happy when I heard that H was reissuing Jardins d'Hiver as the original had come our before I started collecting.

I chose CW24 Blanc/ Vert/ Ebène - I don't have too many light-colored scarves, but I love the different greens in this one. It's fantastic with greys and blues.
Thank you for the great post! I remember I took mine (red) out one day and my DD was asking what this scarf about, which gardens. I have no answer. Now I can take it out again and explain. :p Thank you for sharing!!!

One of the main reasons I picked the scarf is that the central greenhouse reminds me of the glass dome of the Galeries Lafayette in Paris - the picture below shows an art installation, I think frolicking monkeys would be a great addition :D:p

The scarf takes us on a worldwide tour of gardens. First, Babylon and the legendary hanging gardens. Nothing remains there, but the lions do look like the ones on the Gate of Ishtar.

Thanks for doing this research on Jardins d'Hiver, sophieg. We are twins on colorway 24 -- one that I did not see on the Hermes.com website, only as the last one in the Atlanta boutique. I lost my heart immediately -- the original issue did not have one in all white, I think. Like you, I don't have many white scarves and am only lately exploring them. My first H scarf over 30 years ago was by Annie Faivre and I have loved her designs ever since. I will take some mod shots of Jd'H after Christmas, as mine is safely wrapped under the tree at the moment!

This is just beautiful ❤️ I have to have one now, lol. Your colourway is particularly nice too.

:smile1: I tried to upload these two pics of both my vintage ALPHABET 3 long time ago. Somehow it didn't work then. So here I go again.

I couldn't find a monkey here…my eyes hurt from looking .
Has anybody else been lucky?

Thanks! :smile1:

oh my sophieg I love this! The scarf and the real life pics!! While in Italy September 2014 dh and I wanted to go to the Borghese museum last day but didn't realize we needed to make a reservation!! So disappointed - love this post thank you!!

Does anyone have modeling pix of Cavaliers du Caucase in cw 06 (thumbnail below, from the Hermes site)? I was poking around on the H site (always a mistake) and suddenly became smitten, but I'm afraid it might be too busy for me since I'm petite (5'0").
Would love to hear anyone's experience with this scarf in any of the colorways: what's it like to knot? Is the silk stiff, like MetM, or soft, like some of her earlier ones? Do you find the complexity of the pattern to be overwhelming?
I have seven AF scarves, so I'm drawn to her complex patterns, but this one is just SO busy it has me a bit worried. And unfortunately (or fortunately???) I don't live near an H boutique. :p
Thanks in advance! :flowers:

I have the orange cw and I love it. It's one of my favourite scarves (the orange one has some golden parts that make it look special). I was actually torn between the black one and the orange one. The black one was really nice, I just don't like black and rarely wear black.
Once you wear it the pattern doesn't seem to be so busy at all.
There are modeling pix in the "spring 2015"-thread, esp. on pages 175, 181 and 182.

Thank you so much, ichimatsu... that is extremely helpful! Wow, that scarf really glows, doesn't it?

Hi Elaine! I have this exact colorway, so let me see if I can attach a picture. I love this scarf and it ties beautifully. I am wearing a greek key patterned dress, so it may seem a bit busy. I do wear this scarf with black and cobalt blue. So sorry this is HUGE!IMG_5840.JPG

You look stunning in this dear LadyB! Have missed your beautiful smile and colorful silks!
Playing catch up today with my silks at long last. Here are my two AF recently acquired silks, Zenobie and Chemin de Corail colorway 14. I broke my 90 ban just for AF silks lol.
