^^^Exactly. The invitation is for the Tuesday; the sale opens to the public on Wednesday. There is some "special treatment" for VIPs--They get in before the official opening time on Tuesday (which is generally 2pm). But non-celebrity invitees must wait in line until the official opening, first-come first-served.

Not samples of clothing - it's past seasons of clothing- men and women. Housewares - blankets, towels and crystal.
Silks - tie and 90 & 70 scarves, jersey silk scarves, gavaroches,
Belts (never the classic H or CDC/Medor but did see a kelly double tour 2 yrs ago), small leather goods
Jewelry, enamels, clic clacs (only 1 year and usually gone by private day)
SHOES with their orange boxes finally!
And the gritty news: I believe someone posted it about last yr's sale but ppl SELL their invites on craigslist/eBay and it was like $50-75 for it! I can't find the last yr's thing about the sale...or I would link it. Maybe Mod took that post down.

I saw it posted that they went out but has anyone received the invitation to the private sale yet?
I think invitations are only required for the first day of the sale, Tuesday. Wednesday-Sunday are open to all. The invitations have the invitee's name on them and are marked "non-transferable," so technically CANNOT be sold, or given, to anyone else.
I bought two beautiful long thick cashmere scarves last year. They had lots that everyone was ignoring. I did not look at the clothing.
