NY sales?

One year I got there at 6am, and there were already people there. It was worth the wait for the fabulous haul I came home with.

I'm going to wait for the reviews before I decide to go this year. There have been several disappointing sales recently, and I'd prefer not to stand in line for nothing.

Oh no! Now that you say that I'm wondering if I should catch the midnight bus ride which will get me there at 5 and just line up when I arrive in NYC. I am a bit skeptical about lining up at 5am, by myself in NYC.....

The city really isn't that dangerous. I think people from out of town just get a little creeped out because of stories or the news. Obviously you don't want to be way uptown, but where the sample sale is you'll be fine!

honestly, I wouldn't be nervous about lining up for this. there will most likely be people already in line lol. I can't remember the specifics without looking at my old review of the NY sale, but I think it was something ridiculous like only the people who lined up before 8 am were able to get into the sale after a whole day of everyone else waiting outside. Shoppers inside were taking FOREVER. I hope they change things this year. They should either have time limits for shopping or let people know the line is closed. They were allowing people to line up regardless of how late it was getting even though they knew there was no chance of getting in. The workers who "manage" the line couldn't provide any wait estimates or any info at all.

I'm so torn about going. I missed last year's and swore I would make it in 2016. Then, I read what a nightmare it was with long lines and people waiting all day just to be turned away so I thought "forget that". Then the unexpected Beverly Hills sale happened and a friend [who thankfully was able to grab me something there!] reported that the lines were not bad at all. I feel like NY will still be a nightmare though and the BH sale may have no reflection on how things are done here on the east coast.
I don't wish to take time off work so to go down from Boston it would have to be Saturday. I will already be in NY this coming Saturday for the opera and two weeks in a row is a bit much, especially if everything good is gone by then. Hopefully you lovely ladies and gents will post your goodies [and experiences] from the first few days on here so we can judge if it's worth coming from out of town.

Was the line madness last sale for regular sale day? I have to go search..... I don't want to stand in line for hours. One recent sale I went after work on the VIP day and there was no line. Not a great sale though.

Last year I heard the public day was a nightmare. It was so bad even the local news outlets picked up on the story. If you google it you can find some stories. Hopefully less people will attend. I heard tour groups were showing up, hence the 6 plus block line.

VIP day was sane. It was the public day that was horrific.

You can find articles on Racked and Mizhattan.
