kelly bags, birkins, massai, plume. fisch for the hip - she used to have a web site, but it's not up now, and i know she's on ebay sometimes. there's a store in chelsea. went by today and there were quite a few bags if you're in the neighborhood. many looked nearly brand new, some vintage pieces too. prices were not low, but not crazy marked up either.

I've bought and sold at Fisch for the Hip many times, and always had a pleasant experience. Everyone has been very kind to me. I love the King Charles Cavelier (sp) puppies that are always there too !

They do carry an amazing amount of Hermes. Maybe I'll drop by this weekend and check them out. I'm going to Hermes on Madison tomorrow too, maybe there's a hidden treasure in the backroom ?

There is another consignment shop that sells Hermes and it's called A Second Chance Resale. It's on UES- 77th/78th St. and Lexington Ave. They also sell Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Gucci, etc.

Fisch for the Hip is where I found my beloved lilac '04 Balenciaga bag. :heart: It's on West 18th St. between 6th/7th Ave. It's just down the street from The Container Store. I agree about overpricing the Birkins and Kellys for used conditions. Everytime I see these pretty bags just sitting there on the shelves, I keep thinking why don't they have a home yet? That's when I found out about their prices and I was like, I'm sure the new ones are cheaper than that!! :amazed:

Michael's, a consignment shop on the upper east (Madison and 79th, I think), has a few Hermes bags as well. This weekend I spotted a black birkin, plume and a few others. They have a pretty wide selection of all the big hitters actually. In fact a very cute black classic chanel was swiped from right under my nose. Gotta buy it when you first see it. Michael's is pretty good about cycling their merchandise so there is always something new to see.

actually, a lot of the bags at Fisch ARE new - the guy that works there once told me some people just bring new bags in to make a little bit more than they paid for them. Makes me wonder how much you could really make (i.e. is it a better alternative to ebay?)

At that time (many, many months ago), they had a brand new 28cm fuschia Kelly and I don't think you could get it at the NY H stores at that time - so I suppose the real benefit is instant gratification!

I've both purchased and consigned thru Fisch for the Hip (on west 18th street in NY) and she often has nice clothing and bags BUT she charges far more than other consignment shops I've visited, on all designers (making it much better if you're consigning rather than purchasing). She can also be a real b*tch, though there's a guy that works with her who's very nice. More pleasant consignment shops in NYC are Ina in Soho and Michael's on the UES, but there are fewer Hermes bags, sadly.

callmelulu, are there other consignment shops (if so where?) and do some of these focus on bags vs scarves? If so, which?

Has anyone been to any of these recently? I have never gone and will be in nyc this weekend so was thinkin about popping in. So far, basedon this thread, it appears there is ina in soho (where exactly I dont know), michaels, fisch for the hip, and 2nd chance. What is UES?
any other stores that you think are worth a peep?

UES = Upper East Side

I went shopping at Sigerson Morrison in Soho today. INA was right across the street so I stopped by and I doubt it's worth the extra detour. They had 3 H scarves - a pink Bride de Gala with flattened roule, a Liberty, and a brown plisse. They never have any H bags there.

Michael's on the UES had a few kellys last week and there's another place nearby called Encore that had hmmm, I think a trim and an evelyne. you could just give a call and see--Fisch always has a big H selection but I think her markup is pretty high...
