Just a thought about spores. Is there a chance to dry it up under the sun? I know it will affect the color but spores ( if any) will have no chance to reactivate.

If you have nothing to lose.... May be you could just dye the bag in the shade you like?

I do dye bags, but never a glove tanned bag. I wonder if there would be a way to dye it to it's original color without having to seal it and give it that re dyed bag sheen that they get. Hmmmm

PS. Pics coming soon :)

Ok ladies, it is almost totally dry and I am laughing so hard!! I shaped it how I liked, then hung it up. It feels like a drum and it's mega stiff in the most casual puddling shape LOL!!! [emoji23][emoji23]Oh and also, the leather cpr did wonders for the scuffs [emoji5]️

It looks nice for the vintage bag! Don't worry, it will be softer. I washed vintage suede Gucci bag and it dried up hard . What I thnik I will do I will take a rubber ball and roll it inside the bag flat. It will help to imitate the use.

You washed a Gucci bag? I did it too. People in the Gucci forum were shocked. Mine came out great. It was suede on the inside, leather on the outside. It helps with suede if you brush it or rub it briskly with a towel.

I did wash it. I got it as a gift, it was 43 years old and never took a bath. I had no choice after I read Gucci policy and they would only clean the outside but not lining. Mine is dark brown suede outside and some natural color leather inside, so it was very dirty. Surprisingly water was not brown at all, just the dirt. I washed it with a very soft shoe brush. It came out nice like nothing never happened ,same shape same color, just stiff.

What a transformation! Looks fabulous!!!:tender:
I am confused... The color was british tan or so before and midnight oak or so after? I am in love with coach midnight oak color. Still kicking myself for not bying legacy bag in it.

Lol thank you!!! The shocker is that it was always dark brown. It was so insanely dry that it was faded to a tan color. The interior pocket wasn't dry and it was dark brown all along. I didn't know it was called midnight oak though. It's gotta be my favorite classic Coach color!

That classic dark brown is most likely mahogany. One of my favorites! Beautiful bag.
Yes, it was called mahogany. Coach didn't get really creative with names like midnight oak until recently.
