Hey everyone. I have a Nordstrom purchase that I'd like to return. I'm on the fence about returning it by mail, because I'm afraid it'll take a long time (weeks, months) to get refunded, given the pandemic. It's a large purchase for me ($240), so the delay is significant. I could just wait until post-pandemic to return, instead of dealing with the uncertainty of having a return kind of sitting in their warehouse.

So, does anyone have any recent (i.e., within two week) experience returning stuff to Nordstrom.com? Have you gotten your refunds in a timely manner?

(I should note, I'm not judging Nordstrom or any other retailer for delays. These are uncertain times, and they should be prioritizing the health and safety of their staff above all else. I'm happy to have a delay if it means fewer people working or working in safer, more socially distanced situations.)

Thank you in advanced!

My guess is they're working with a skeleton crew especially if they're observing the 6 ft social distancing requirements. My March 24th order didn't ship until March 30th. I haven't returned anything by mail recently to Nordstrom, but I had a H&M return picked up on March 20th and I'm still waiting for confirmation that they received my parcel. I would imagine Nordstrom and other retailers are similar, especially when they have the notice that the health and safety of their employees are their priority on their website and order confirmation e-mails.

Personally, I'd probably wait unless you need the credit to your account. Nordstrom is more open-ended when it comes to returns deadlines, and some retailers are extending their returns periods to 30 days after the shelter-in-place orders are lifted.

I recently made a return through mail. I believe it was delivered to Nordstrom last Friday and the refund has not posted yet but I will give it the 3-5 business days. I didn’t want to overpay my card and have a -$400 balance - otherwise I would have waited for the reopening of stores to return.

Expect to wait several weeks. People Who bought items at the physical stores (fp and rack) before the closure are now allowed to return their items via snail mail. So, I imagine Nordstrom is being swamped with returns from both sides at the moment.

Nords has said to wait at least 14 days for returns.

Please do update us when you get your return! It'd be useful to know how long it takes!

Questions re: return via mail. Due to the current circumstances- I mailed in my order to return via USPS. It then got picked up by newgistics. Last update was on 3/30 saying transit. No update since. Should I be worried? Anyone have similar experience? Tia

I had a similar issue with a Neiman Marcus return months ago, so I don't think this delay is necessarily unique to COVID.

The return carrier (Newgistics) didn't pick up my package for a couple weeks, and then it took another two weeks to finally get delivered to Neiman Marcus's warehouse. My return process took almost a month because of the delays. I don't think you need to be worried, especially because it's only been a couple days since the last update. As long as you have tracking information that confirms you dropped it off at a Post Office, if the package does get lost, you can eventually ask Nordstrom to file a claim with USPS.

Thanks, hope so. I mailed 2 diff orders via mail. Both on newgistics site- one order is in transit which updated today the other one no updates since 3/30.... in the event it gets lost for some reason, what happens ?

I didn't read all the responses. But I often do returns to Nordstrom because I do almost all my online shopping with them and it ALWAYS takes 2-3 weeks before they register the return. That has been consistent for the last few years.
