Aquatalia has always been true to size for me. I’m size 10 and that’s what I have in all of them. I just double checked to see sizing and wow, I have 5 pairs! I didn’t realize it. But you can’t go wrong with the quality. I even got a colleague of mine loving them!
Thank you! Funny enough I forgot I bought the Laila white boot by aquatalia way back in 2021 (i just dug up my old posts to see what size I got hah) and I got a 9.5 which I was happy with. I really dont want to buy duplicate sizes so I may start with a 9.5 for this years boots to see how they fit.

Sorry had three mimosas. Lol. There were deviled eggs, finger foods muffins. Coffee, rose and mimosas at my event. Bought way more than expected and three of my favorite pieces werent on my list. My CA brought them to my room. Ended up buying all three! Will post later tonight when I get home.

But the three items were the Max Mara Olive jacket. LOVE it. Bought the Camel color last year and wear it all the time.

Then she brought me an All Saints denim shacket. LOVE it. Might buy in both colors.

And bought a polo black dress. LOVE this as well with some sneaks. And I am NOT a dress girl.

Surprise loves are the grey Rang and Bone sneaks and the Vince beige colorway sneaks. Both SUPER comfortable and true to size.

I will say the Nordstrom leopard print cardigan is super itchy. But the Rails leopard print is VERY nice.
Mimosas - now that's more like it! Alas, I don't think there will be mimosas at our Ambassador event in Southern California tomorrow. I'm inspired to check out the polo black dress you mentioned.

Hello Lovelies!

I just got back from my appointment and will share what I bought.

Overall, the sale merchandise really didn't grab me this year. There was nothing that I saw that I just couldn't live without. Some basics, like jeans and underwear, seemed like good deals and similar quality to non-sale pieces. Shoes at my store were lackluster. Perhaps if you were looking for a standard bootie, or a pair of fashion sneakers, you might find something you like. I was particularly disappointed with the Veronica Beard merchandise. VB pieces usually fit me perfectly and are a good balance of work wear and quality, with a touch of flare. This year, I was disappointed in the fit and the quality of so many pieces. I'll get to that in a separate post.

I am 5'8", 155 lbs., 34F, usually a 6-8 dress size, and either a Small or Medium depending on the cut. Here's what I bought.

Halogen Shirt Dress in green. Size M. This is super-flattering. The little belt in the middle makes my waist look smaller, and the seaming on the dress makes me look more hourglass-shaped. I have a large bust, an average sized waist for a middle aged lady, and slim hips. This is definitely a win at $75!

Nordstrom Leopard Dress. Size S. This one is fun. My friend said it looked like something to wear to a chic party at your own home where you would be very comfortable. Also, she said it looked like there might be some THC and booze involved at the referenced party. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but she also said that she really liked it. 🤷‍♀️

FRAME Modern Pocket Jeans Size 27. These are really cute and flattering. My friend and I each bought them. She's an hourglass with thin legs. I'm an hourglass with muscular (thick) legs. Looked great on both of us. Good quality as well.

PAIGE Wide Leg Jeans Size 28. These are very soft and comfortable. I was not looking for them and didn't need them. I liked them enough that I bought them anyway. I didn't notice that they are size 28 until I got home. I will need to try them on and reassess whether I need a smaller size, as they are stretchy and lightweight. Quality seemed good.

FRAME Green Pointelle Cardigan Size M. Green is my favorite color. This is flattering and seems well-made. Wool/Cotton blend and the short sleeves are better for my climate.

Veronica Beard Striped Polo Size M. I already own this in solid black. The quality of this piece seems the same as the black version.

Rails "Denim" Shirt Size M. This is not denim! It is lyocell, and will need to be ironed. In my experience, this material is hard and wrinkled after drying. Steaming isn't enough. I mention that point because I don't like ironing. The fit and drape were nice, and I've been looking for this western style for a while. Not sure if it's worth the price tag, though. I find Rails to be over priced for the fabrics they use.

rag & bone Striped Polo Size M. This says it is black and white in the description. This is actually green. 💚 Really soft. More than 50% synthetic fibers. May return for that reason alone.

Finally, I am considering ordering this Nic + Zoe dress. They didn't have it in my store. Did anyone see it or try it on? Does anyone have thoughts on this one? I think it might be good for synagogue.

If anyone wants to see these pieces on me, let me know and I'll try to snap some pics.

Next post will be what I thought about some Veronica Beard pieces, with bonus thoughts about an Alice + Olivia dress.

Veronica Beard

I was particularly interested in the navy suit. This Navy Blazer is well-made, well-cut, and fit me as expected. However, I don't find solid navy to be particularly versatile. I frequently wear a blazer with jeans, and blue denim and navy doesn't spark joy for me. Unfortunately, these Navy Pants were horrific. They were super tight from the butt to the knee and then super flared from the knee-down. It was a weird choice, as the color, cut, and material of the jacket are all conservative and classic. The pants were obscene on me. I always always always wear a size 8 in Veronica Beard. Jacket fit great in my usual size, pants were ridiculous in every size between 6 and 12. The size 8 had room in the waist, but they were super tight on the thighs. Even the size 12 was too tight for suiting, in my opinion. Also the pants are not lined.

This Tweed Blazer is no better. NOTE: this is not a dickey jacket. This is only partially lined, and the way the lining is placed was.... weird. Not necessarily problematic, but just looked like they cut corners to make this piece for the sale. Also, notice how the buttons look "wonky" in every photo. Yeah, they're like that in person too. The sale price on this is $550. There will be other tweed jackets later in the fall priced somewhere between $650 and $800. To me this jacket is not discounted enough to make up for the weird lining and wonky buttons.

This Cutaway Jacket with Dickey for $599 is probably a really good deal. I will say, the fabric is a bit scratchy and generally seems not as high-quality as the materials VB usually uses. However, it comes with a dickey! A VB dickey jacket will usually run $700-$800 depending on the details. A VB dickey usually costs between $175 and $250. All in, you would be looking at $875 - $1050 for a dickey and a blazer. I didn't love the fabric or the color of the blazer, so I passed. If you love this style, grab it. I found it true to VB size.

I loved the style of this Cardigan. Unfortunately, the color was very yellow and not good on my skin tone. Fit was true to size. It seemed good quality. If you like it, and can wear a very yellowy ivory, go for it!

This Striped Cotton Cardigan fit well, was soft, seemed well-made. It kind of reminded me a children's craft project in pattern, though. If you see something else, this may be for you! True to size.

Bonus - this Alice + Olivia dress. This fit true to size. It was a lower-quality jersey than this brand generally uses. Not as nice a hand feel. In person, the print wasn't as appealing as on line. Overall, probably fine for the price.

Still bummed that there are no Eileen Fisher shoes AND there was no Paul Green in store, first year this has happened which is unfortunate.

I did forget to check All Saints, which I'm kinda mad at myself for! I wanted to see if that burgundy leather coat was in store to try on, alas, I will have to wait until tomorrow or Thursday. I also checked out the Veronica Beard Battista Houndstooth jacket and what was weird was that the sewn in brand tag showed "size 00-14" for every single one?? However the hang tags did have the correct size. Clearly some sort of bizarre manufacturing flaw. It also felt a bit cheap for the extreme high price they want for it.
My store didn't have the Aquatalia boots or the Paul Green loafers that I was interested in trying on. Disappointing!

That tag on the Veronica Beard piece is for the dickey only. It indicates what size jackets will work with it. The jacket's size label is sort of.... underneath(?) the dickey size tag.

If it’s any consolation, they had the same Rails denim shirt in last year’s sale and I bought it then. I love it and wore it a lot last fall & winter. I despise ironing and have never ironed this shirt. I just pull it out of the dryer and hang it up and it’s good to go. One of my favorite influencers is Erin Busbee (Busbee Style), and she’s the reason I bought it. This is how she styled it.

And she is wearing it in the YouTube video she posted for this year’s sale too. Not sure if I can share her YouTube link, but her channel is Busbee Style and it’s one of her most recent videos.

Does anyone have insight into the sizing of La Canadienne boots? I’m interested in the Keith bootie but wonder it they are tts. In Aquatalia, I wear either a 9 or 9.5. I even stopped by my Nordstroms today with the hope of trying on and buying tomorrow (I’m an Ambassador) but they didn’t have any. I appreciate any thoughts on sizing.
