For luxury leather and quality that doesn't have the 4-digit price tag, I opt for Hayden Harnett, Gustto and Alexis Hudson. Hayden Harnett is my favorite for totally functional, all-around bags in glorious leathers. Gustto for casual, puddling, slouchy, free-form bags. Alexis Hudson for classic elegance that is a bit more tailored - while still an affordable price.

Coach. They're wondeful bags. Soft buttery leather, very reasonable prices in the low $100's. Do you have a Coach outlet near you? They have even better prices.

I just bought a Calvin Klein hobo. The Nappa leather is buttery soft and smells divine, and the quality of the bag overall seems to be first-class. I can only recommend it.

I've started checking out Lucky Brand bags. I was looking at a thread here about them and saw some great reports. But I haven't seen any IRL, only on eBay.

Macy's always has a good collection of Lucky bags.

True. The blueberry Trophy Bag is the only 1 I went for. I think Toni is one of those designers that loves fall and winter and it shows in her collections. Their Fall 09 collection is TDF.

I bought the hayden-harnett trophy bag in black last year when it was on sale for less than 350.00. The bag and leather is amazing and I think would suit your needs very well. At the moment it isn't on sale but they seem to have sales all the time.

wow..i am very surpise that most of you guys classified cole haan as non designer brand..cole haan can be super expensive over malaysia here..i seen stg range up to few k before,a bit expensive than furla and the price is very similar to coach and maybe close to burberry and gucci~

I think of Cole Haan as designer, even though it is not a premier designer, it's still designer. I'm not that snobby to say that it isn't. I also think of Dooney as designer and Hayden-Harnett as designer.

Furla and Lamarthe. Really nice bags, and I consider theμ luxurious. They don't spend gazzilions on marketing and they can keep their prices kinda low.

Coach has disappointed me greatly quality wise. I can't tell them apart from the fakes, and the leather is not buttery soft. I loved some designs while I was browsing them on line and when I saw them IRL they were horrible. Just my opinion. I know many women love their Coach bags and have huge collections, they are just not for me I guess.
