wow, this thread is almost 2 yrs old! LOL!

I was innocently doing a search on "Georg Jensen" and came across this very interesting thread. I was also surprised it was inactive since Dec. 2006! :wtf:

Reading through the earlier posts was a great source of information about some "under-the-radar" designers.

Hope we can keep this thread more active in the future....

A friend of mine has some beautiful Sharon Khazzam pendants. Stunning necklaces, earrings and rings in precious and semi-precious stones. I believe Barney's might be the only place to see her line.

Naturally, I will vote for myself and pieces I have made/designed. lol

But honestly, I could sit here for an hour or more and list all the unknown artists I have wear. Jewelry is not about name brands for me. It's about quality, workmanship, design and just plain old appeal. I've seen incredible pieces made by nobody local jewelers. And I do mean incredible. Good enough to rival any big name house. It's an occupartional hazard, I guess. Having spent so many years in the industry I look at jewelry a little bit differently than most.

All that said, I will say that my most recent discovery is a man names James Yaun. He makes one of a kind pieces out of glass. Yes, glass. He is truly amazing. I don't think he sells retail to the general public but if you have a chance to actually see his work in person, don't pass it up. It's unlike anything else I have seen. I had 24 pieces in my store in Stepember. I have one left. That speaks well for him.

In Australia, I've never ever seen Mallary Marks jewellery-- the bracelets and earrings absolutely adorable! Marie-Helene de Taillac anyone? They use mainly colourful gemstones and gold.
