non-buyer's remorse

I always say to myself when something is a good deal and it's returnable - if you like it better to buy and return than to regret not buying. Yesterday I tried on a pair of Paige jeans for a great price at NR. They fit but I thought the next size down might be better and they didn't seem to have it. And we have a very large expense coming up so I was trying to be good.

Now I'm thinking maybe I should have bought them. $229 FP for approx $42.
May go back today but they may be gone.
Ever do this?
Or should I stick with my decision?

I went back today. NR is having 25% off clearance. I tried on the ones from yesterday and also another pair of Paige. Wasn't sure which was best so brought home both. Will see what DH thinks. I can return one or both.
