For me it would be the perfumed origami cranes. $65 [IIRC] for a piece of paper spritzed with perfume?? WHO would buy that unless they literally have money to through away [as this item will surely be thrown away after a rather short period of time].

Although I admit that a close second is that ridiculous pencil! Really? $105?

I like earrings and a necklace from the latest H catalog. Mind you the base material is *silver* and with carved hard stones, e.g. onyx, carnelian, lapis and small diamonds. The earrings are $17,700 and the necklace is $25,100.

Ouch. Just Ouch!

How long will this thread keep going until we all agree Hermes prices are outrageous on EVERYTHING, including our beloved bags .... but for those we all can find thousands of excellent excuses to justify price...:giggles::giggles::giggles:

A lot of the petit h items, e.g. the leather cup holder. Imagine being preoccupied with something else and throwing out the paper cup with the leather holder.....

Oh I think most of us would agree that H prices are insane on just about everything.
However, a bag or a silk scarf or a piece of jewelry is meant to last a lifetime [or close to it] as long as it is cared for. A pencil, origami crane, USB drive, etc. are basically all disposable items that they are charging through the nose for. And then things related to tech devices, like the ipad case [or Blackberry case! really does anyone still have a Blackberry?] that will be basically useless one the technology is updated.

And so will be the $100+ H mug once it is broken by your 3 year old toddler...;)

*Sigh* that crazy person buying paper cranes would be me (it's sad that I saw $65 and thought, that's a bargain for H!). I admit, I'm a sucker for paper crafts and origami, and I still have the paper origami horses that Hermes gave out with their Christmas cards one year. The Houston store had the large leather origami horse, and for one brief lapse in sanity, I seriously considered getting it. The pencil, though, is a no go.

I bought one of the Click-a-zoo animals several years ago, and while I don't remember how much it was, it was definitely in the "you paid how much for that???" category. But I tend to go into these purchases knowing that I'm not buying it for the value. I got the Rose Shocking elephant, and it serves no other purpose but to sit in my glass cabinet. I liked the color, the cute factor, and the creativity that went into the design, so no regrets. But I don't tell anyone how much it cost...

Haha. If the paper crane makes you happy that's all that matters. Much of what we buy at H is solely for that purpose.

Now the click-a-zoo animals, whilst expensive, can at least be considered objets d'art and thus I see those as more reasonable. Haha.

Touche! :graucho:
{luckily, I don't have kids}

I still stand by the idea that certain things are a bigger waste of money than others though. :smile1:

Me too, my dear, me too....
You are talking to an old collector of H bags who has not used any other brand Bag for more than 25 years. Not to mentions shoes, boots, shawls, knitwear, silver jewels, CDC belts, and watches of ALL styles....and even china....A true Hermes addict in other words. Member of this subform since 2006.
If that means anything;););)

I have two click-a-zoos, and I'm right there with you. I feel a little bad paying that much for something so small that serves no purpose other than decoration, but they make me smile every time I look at them, so I think that makes them worth it.
