I love these "COMPLEX" pictures. She looks amazing! I love Nicki, (huuuuge fan!) and I am not a hoodrat as a member sugested earlier that all her fans are: I am a white 37 yr old married, middle-class woman with a bachelors degree in biochemistry, working in medicine for the past 15 yrs, and I love listening to her. She always puts a smile on my face, and my husband always says "oh there's your girl" when her 'part' comes on a song on the radio and we crank it up loud so I can try to sing along LOUD! LOL!!! For those who say she's not talented, you are obviously not like me trying to rap along in the car with her on the stereo barely keeping up... LOL!!! Come on people, don't take it so seriously...its fun music! It's OK if you don't like it/the music, but don't hate.... She is on practically EVERY top rap/hip-hop hit these days and it is so nice to hear a woman rapper keep up with all the guys in the industry! Yes, she's got a crazy ass, but damn I wish I looked as great as she does in those "COMPLEX" pix!!!

I was that member... and i said MOST of her fans are hoodrats. I dont know any 37 year olds that are into nicki but thats a first. I'm sorry, I know her intent isnt to make groundbreaking emotionally affecting music (its harder to get paid that way lol) but i just dont find her lyrics clever. *shrugs* you can rap about BS all you want but if you do it well enough i'd still go 'wow'. She doesnt do it for me and if that makes me a hater then so be it. I guess ppl are so hype about a new female playing with the big boys they're willing to give her lacklasture performance etc a pass. the pretty face/hot body helps too. Missy Elliot can rap circles around her but lawd knows she wasnt a looker
Missy has already solidified herself as a major player in hip-hop. Not being seen as a sex symbol might have helped her, she was certainly taken more seriously by those would who be threatened by an attractive woman who also has talent.
She said in an interview that she did a flow like that on her first few songs to pay homage to him and it's kinda stuck since then. She said she is gonna tone it down so people can take her seriously. I hate what she's done to her nose BTW
maybe.... but when you rap about being a barbie and what a boss ***** you are, its pretty clear that you dont mind not being taken seriously. Missy could rap and sing and her videos were almost visionary for thier time. she always went all out. wonder what she's doing right now

i know, at 37 I'm considered "old" to some, and yet in my head I am still that young 18 yr old tattooed pierced punk-rock kid, and still listen to all kinds of old school punk music: Bad Religion, Social Distortion, Big Black, but also current stuff like Lady Gaga, TI, Lil' Wayne, Jay Z, and yes, Nicki. I definitely don't lump myself (or anyone) into any "age" or "music" category! It's a little, ummm, limiting, doncha think???

*sigh* whatever. i dont pick what ppl listen to i simply said I meaning ME dont know any 37 year olds who listen to nicki and yes i dont know any 48 year olds who do either. Just stating a fact, not implying that it was good or bad. Thats all. And being that age one would think you'd be beyond reffering to someone you dont agree with as a hater since music is subjective but i guess not. Suprises all around!hahaha!

I havent been able to listen to most mainstream rap in years and I'm not even 30 yet. *shrugs* There are some ppl in the new school like wale, and jcole, kid cudi, common etc that i can deal with but thats about it. As far as female rappers, rashida, jean grae and lauryn hill are all pretty good imo. I guess when i first discovered hip hop it was strangely 'empowering' in a way... even if i had to turn it down when my mom walked by. It kinda sucks to see what popular 'hip hop' has become but I've just learned to not turn on the radio to hear good music lol.
