So if Nicki was nominated for the award instead of Beyonce, would Nicki still be mad?
Well if is a bigger word than but...but she not necessarily mad that she wasn't nominated. You're kind of missing her point. She did say that Feeling myself was also not nominated, I believe, so she's clearly voicing frustrations which shouldn't be swept under the rug because some think she's just being bratty. Her points are valid even if her delivery, timing, and battle selection were not the best.

Why does it need a message? Everything doesn't have to be something, does it? I don't think twerking is intended to have a message. It's just a dance followed through the diaspora Lol. And, why cant a dance be done for a full song? I don't watch the VMAs.. I just threw Miley's name out.. I think she had a twerking video last year or so.

But B, we're talking about a video that Nicky wants to be nominated for Best Video. You can't just make a basic video with a bunch of twerking girls (which would only interest teenage boys) and expect it to compete with highly stylized videos. Maybe it doesn't have to have a messages but if I were one of the judges then I'd nominate the videos that are at least interesting, if not thought-provoking.

I see. I'm trying to understand her point.

I don't think videos are nominated based on anything more than it being a popularity contest and most views. I doubt it has to do with interest or creating a thought provoking nature. Lol.

I can tell you for sure that twerking appeals to men not just teenage boys.

Ok, so it is the Anaconda video, but sorry the video is really not worth any nomination.
Look it's not really about Anaconda. Like it or not, whether you think it's worthy or not, her point is...you know what...her point is exactly what some folks here are doing. lol

I honestly didn't care about this whole saga and didn't even pay attention until Azealia jumped in which was for my personal sh*ts and giggles; but it is quite interesting to me the insistence that it's not a worthy video when there are so many that look like hers that get nominated and win. It just continually highlights the issue. Even while presented with the inherent problems the insistence is that it's not worthy because <insert reason>; meanwhile others who don't look like her do exactly the same. I could care less about the VMAs, Nicki or Swift but can't get down with the conditioned flawed logic.

“[It has] nothing to do with any of the women, but everything to do with a system that doesn’t credit black women for their contributions to pop culture as freely/quickly as they reward others,” she Instagrammed on Wednesday. “We are huge trendsetters, not second class citizens that get thrown crumbs. This isn’t anger. This is #information.”

Katy Perry Responded to Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj’s VMA Dispute

Minaj did go on to show gratitude for her nominations for Best Female Video, Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration. “It’s all love to MTV,” she added. “Kisses to my fans and thank you for my three nominations.”

The 32-year-old rapper called attention to Marie Claire’s recent article, “The Truth About Racism in the Music Industry” to further express her how she felt about the VMAs snub.

PHOTOS: Everything Nicki Minaj Wore (Or Didn’t Wear) in ‘Anaconda’

“To put it simply: When Britney Spears got naked and covered herself in sequins for 'Toxic,’ she was nominated for Best Music Video. When Emily Ratajkowski got naked next to Robin Thicke in 'Blurred Lines,’ he was nominated for Best Music Video. When Miley Cyrus stripped off and broke a million health and safety rules by riding a piece of construction equipment, she wasn’t just nominated for Best Music Video of the Year - she won it,” Corinne Redfern writes for the magazine. “But as soon as Nicki Minaj – whose black body deviates from Caucasian beauty standards – dares to own her own culture and dance in a similarly provocative fashion, it’s glossed over and relegated to sideline categories of 'female’ and 'hip hop.’”

If I was a different 'kind’ of artist, 'Anaconda’ would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well,“ Minaj tweeted on Tuesday. "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”

But her first tweet was not about race until Taylor Swift responded. And if she wants to make it a racial issue then she shouldn't forget Destiny's Child, The Fugees, etc, etc. I'm sorry but big butts is not a body type dominated by black people only. There are skinny black women who have no butts and boobs. I think she's just upset that her video is the one that's watched the most but not nominated. Just my two cents. She might have a valid point but the fact that she's not consistent with her argument for me shows that she's just bring a brat.

Huh? Her tweets were all consistent. Her first one was about the white standard of beauty. Then the media started pitting her against Swift after Swift assumed she was talking about her. You can go back and read all of them, I think they're still up. She had quite few tweets posted before Taylor jumped in and made a comment. Do I agree that she's upset about her likkle video not being nominated? Yep. Has she been consistent in her argument? Yep. Are the VMAs stupid and not worth being upset about? Yep. Are BW made to believe they are cause of everything wrong with America and have nothing worthy of contribution to society? Yep.

Man...how did I end up on the other side of this?!

Moving along. I don't really care about this mess...I'm trying to figure out why Sandra Bland got killed but was just ruled a suicide and why America is constantly okay with this mess.
