Anaconda is not a great video. Plain and simple.
When it came out, everyone agreed on that. NOW they say she got snubbed, but that just ain't true.

Nicki made some valid points about BW not getting credit and recognition where it's due, but she went about it all wrong.

I can support her views on some things, but I'm not gonna sit here and pretend Anaconda deserved a VOTY nod...

Yeah I can agree with you. If she or other artists feel this way, I wish they would articulate their points better. There are better mediums outside of twitter to articulate frustrations about this strange thing that BW are the cause of all things wrong in and with America....but I guess sometimes when you feel you truly have no real voice, you voice it anywhere someone will listen

Kinda Nicki's point. Twerking which originates in black culture is put down when done by the actual group from which it originates but is praised when pancake azz Miley types does it...and she gets nominated too. Lol.

I get Nicki's point. And man, Taylor needs to settle down. Not every freaking tweet is about her.

Nicki had a very valid point and then Taylor jumps in and completely hijacks the conversation.

I can't with her and her "squad". Give me a f*cking break already.

It may have begun with a single tweet, but the online feud between hip-hop queen Nicki Minaj and country crooner Taylor Swift has evolved into a much wider conversation about bias, race and gender that has sparked a furious online debate between the singers’ fans.

And the latest twist in the tale saw Minaj’s most dedicated followers expressing their outrage and fury over a tweet posted by Entertainment Weekly about the feud, which featured a photo of an angelic-looking Swift next to one of Minaj looking wide-eyed and slightly unhinged – in what fans saw as a totally ‘biased’ depiction of the duelling divas.

EW apologized and swapped the photo, but the angry backlash continues on social media - and #TeamNicki tweets outweighs #TeamTaylor tweets two to one, Styleite reports.

Yes, all of this!

I love how there are articles calling out Taylor's faux-feminism and her dismissal of Nicki's points by trying to make it all about her. I bet she didn't see that coming. She seems like she's used to media fawning all over her.

I also love how EW got thoroughly dragged on twitter and had to apologize for their (trying to be) low-key racism in how they used the pictures of an "angelic" Taylor and a "crazy/mean" Nicki to go with their tweet. Because media pulls that crap all the time, with headlines, with pictures. But every new article I've seen about this now has a picture where both girls have the same expression. Which is how it should always be. Hopefully that kind of mindfulness will carry forward, and not vanish when this "twitter beef" news story does.

Beyonce was nominated for the VMA so why is Nicki calling out mtv? I don't get it...
Only one trophy black [del]person[/del] woman ever allowed...she's calling it out because people say things like "Beyonce was nominated...what's the big deal". Not that it's not a valid question but because it's always a 'we put one in' so we covered our bases scenario.

I've always wondered who selects the nominees for the VMAs? I know the public determines the winner in the major categories but I can't remember the last time I watched the VMAs... or a music video for that matter... so maybe things have changed in that respect.

They should make the demographics of the voting body public like they do for the Oscars.

Both Taylor and Niki had twearking in videos. Shake it off had dancers doing while Taylor went between thier legs but I understand this isn't the video up for nomination.

But Anaconda is just a twerking video from the beginning to end. There's no massage in the video. Which video of Miley's nominated?

Why does it need a message? Everything doesn't have to be something, does it? I don't think twerking is intended to have a message. It's just a dance followed through the diaspora Lol. And, why cant a dance be done for a full song? I don't watch the VMAs.. I just threw Miley's name out.. I think she had a twerking video last year or so.
