Here's part of the email from my SA: We're kicking off the season with an Event starting Saturday, 11/21 through Sunday, 11/29. The first 4 days are for invited . . .
Ahhhh the "invited" part explains my conversation with a SA at one of my local stores. I called to ask about what is NOT in store and on the list and got a bit of a song and dance… "We don't know yet what's not in store, we don't have the full list yet." I kept pressing, saying that I know that some customers have done their presales already, etc…. she kept talking about current in-store items and nothing else. By the end of the conversation she asks, "So how did you know about this sale again?" I told her I'm on a number of online forums and the information is out there. Kind of obnoxious of her and made me mad!

Will have to go in physically and see what's what. Thanks to all for the info. Nothing I particularly need with current stuff, I'm interested to see what is NOT in the store that I might like! :)

They're not even using the term PCE anymore, just early insider access for "The Thanksgiving Sale". And in fine print "Cyber Monday, November 30, for additional online-only offers and access to exclusive styles you won't find in stores." I wonder what that means.

My store is calling it an event here bc we already had our Thanksgiving :smile1:.

So are you saying it's not so much like PCE? More of a semi annual? Hope it's regular % off on everything or most items.

No, this oncoming sale is still like PCE, and it is tiered. ..... The way my manager described it (back in September already, and continues to describe it now), is, "A PCE that then opens to the public after a few days".

This differs from semi-annual, in that semi-annual usually brings back some older styles too -- styles that had already been removed from stores/online. This "Black Friday PCE-like event" is not bringing back older styles ..... it's simply a PCE that then opens to the public.

I think I had posted this a few pages back, but this is how my manager has been describing it: (loosely quoting her) --- "A Black Friday PCE, starting before Black Friday, starting like PCE for a few days but then opening to the entire public." It is also tiered.

Since then, the tiering I was given was bascially the standard tiering they've been using lately:
20% up to $250
25% $250-500
30% $500 and up.

Continuing to loosely quote what the manager said:
" .... Then a "Winter Sale" (the manager specifically emphasized that this was the title the higher-ups were using) starting the day after Christmas, and then further on, a semi-annual sale later in January."

Again, that is what my manager said back in late September. So far, at least, she's been correct. Since then, my SA (who is not the manager) has further stated that the Winter Sale will be in "three phases" (her exact words), and will bring back some older styles that were already removed from stores.

(And my *own* conjecture is this ... if they are indeed bringing back older items for this "Winter Sale", then maybe, just maybe the Winter Sale is morphing into the semi-annual sale. The manager had originally said that the Winter Sale started the day after Christmas, and semi-annual came later in January. In other words, the manager originally said they were two separate events. ................ However, if my SA's more recent words are correct -- that the Winter Sale will be three phases and bring back some already-removed items ... well ... that is what *usually* happens during semi-annual, so maybe, just maybe, the Winter Sale will morph into the semi-annual. Maybe they are actually becoming the same thing???? But again, this paragraph is just my own ponderings.)

Hope that all makes sense ... but as I said, that's what my local manager has been saying.

There may be a difference here in Canada (not all of us are in the States here :) ) from what my manager has said. She said ours ("PCE", "Event", "What have you") is by invitation only and is not going to be opened up. Of course, that *could* change, but for now, that is the story I have been getting for the last few weeks. :smile1:

She also said that the SAS will start shortly afterwards; she did not use another term like "Winter Sale" so again, who knows up here :).

How do you get invited to the PCE events?

Short answer: spend too much

I don't know if there are any 100% ways to get on the PCE invite list, but most of us that get them seem to have shopped in FP stores. I'm by no means a shopaholic (other than Snoopy, lol) but still get the invites so I think even a few purchases will get you on their radar.

I signed up for the email mailing list two years ago and got a PCE invite code. Then I bought a tiny ~$30 item at the FP boutique and started getting mailers every single time there was a PCE, even though I've never used them. Interestingly, since I spent $200+ sans PCE code, I haven't received anymore invites. Lol I was verbally told by an SA about Thanksgiving ish events after I inquired, matching the above breakdown by momtok.

How do you get invited to the PCE events?

I started by buying a $10 leather conditioner and I was on the list. It might also help to become friendly with a SA and simply ask if you can do a pre-sale. I usually go late at night, when they are not busy and during times the stricter managers are not around and talk Coach for hours. I learn a lot that way. Sometimes it has little to do with the merchandise, like the new uniforms or the new interior or our mutual envy of the flagship stores.

My story is the same as most of those above .... one time, soon after purchasing a keyring at the boutique, I suddenly started receiving the email PCEs. When I used them, I continued to use that same SA, and often, she would actually call me before the email had even arrived, to tell me I was getting PCE.

It was like that up until Coach started making it's "changes". Then, around the time that the semi-annual sales started, word had circulated here that the SAs had been asked by corporate for updated lists of their "clients". Again, I cannot substantiate this, but that was what a number of different people had said. If that's the case, then I'm pretty sure that my SA put me on the list. At that point, I started getting some postal mailers too, along with continuing emails ... which makes me think those rumors about new lists might have been true (ie. now I was getting postal mailers).

I remain grateful, and do always try to do my purchasing through her.
