New York Sale -- back on?

Dear H-lovers in NYC,

I just got back from attending the H sale this morning. I thought it was great. I didn't know what to expect, and I worried I was just wasting a morning, but there were several things I've truly been longing to have. I was lucky enough to grab an Axis Mundi changeant mousseline (very high on my desire list), a men's Rouge H muffler that I've been oggling for a year, a men's 70cm that is the perfect neutral scarf and then . . . a humungous cashmere shawl in turquoise.

There was very much a waiting line when I left. On occasion some scarves were returned and put out. Most are gone aside from men's scarves. Be nice to the woman heading the scarf counter, as she is quite wonderful and helpful.

Tons of bangles still (I don't wear them), watches, jewelry. Not many boots; all with big heels. A number of crazy belts (was tempted), as well as some perfume stock left. Tons of beautiful ties.

NOTE: My mirror is dirty; the knits are not full of pulls/etc.
Congrats on the nice choices! I am surprised that AM mousseline was not all gone before now. Great that you managed to get one (I share your excitement as we snatched one too!). I am kicking myself for not checking the men's scarves. That men's muffler you got is fantastic! Love that pocket details! Is there any left? Wondering if I should try to find it tomorrow morning?

COMPLETELY CRAZY about that turquoise cashmere now that I'm seeing it on my computer screen instead of my phone. It's like being neck deep in Caribbean waters-- sublime. I am positively green-- turquoise!-- with envy, and so pleased for you at these wonderful finds.

Thanks, Kitty. I went through the sale many times (waiting to see what would be laid back down!), and the men's mufflers were in the very back far away from eyes. This was the only one of this type, and I was surprised it was still there given the doubled thickness, pocket, and incredible weave. I couldn't believe it about the mousseline—I never expected that three days into the sale. I've had a secret crush on the Axis Mundi changeants, so it felt fated.

You said the right word: Caribbean . . . That's why I got it, because it will look gorgeous in the Caribbean sun coming soon . . . The cashmere has got to be the softest I've experienced, and it's bigger than my bed.

Nice haul! The turquoise cashmere is so cozy! I am drooling over everybody's Axis Mundi mousse!!! Wish I can be there. :cloud9:

Thanks, mimi. I didn't expect much from the sale, but it was luscious.

Beautiful picks!! Congratulations!! Any idea when is the Paris sale in January?

Thanks. Alas, I never know the Paris dates!

Congrats on your purchases. I especially the turquoise cashmere shawl. 😍

Did you happen to notice if there were scarves in pink? Thanks.

Yes, Ailey, there were smaller cashmere plumes in pink. Very beautiful. Two at 10:20AM.

Arabesques: Lucky you scoring the Axis Mundi on sale! I almost picked the same one up today but at full price!

arabesques, it must be fate just like you said! Congrats again on the nice purchases. Thanks for the quick reply. I guess no point of me going back. Oh well, money saved to spend on a shawl I guess :D
Btw, you did a great job at photographing AM mousseline too. I tried last night and wasn't successful at all :shame: I have to go on the mousseline thread for inspiration next.

In case anyone wants to go. The wait is about 45min @2pm this afternoon. By the time I got in there are no more printed scarf left. Only solid colors left (super bummed)

I check out the enamel bracelets counters. Total madness you have to fight ur way to get attn for SA behind the counters.

I only pick up these two bracelets. I'm going to travel overseas soon so I decided to save some money and hope I can see a 140cm cashmere shawls in one of the duty free shops

I got there around 6 pm, wait was 15 min, which was fantastic.

Lots of belts, some solid colored scarves (and even then, probably less than 15 styles/colors), lots of ties. The enamel counter was super packed - I didn't even bother elbowing my way in.

DH is the big winner in this shopping trip. Picked up 3 ties for him and a scarf for myself. :smile1:

So beautiful.

Can someone give me their experience? I went this morning to grab a cape cod double tour PM, which is on the website for $2750. At the register they insisted it was $3090. Is this the new H math?

David Yurman and the Row ended up getting my business at their sales today as a result of these bait and switch shenanigans.

You are not mistaken
I read the Racked NY review on Hermes Sample Sale (after I made my purchase ) One of the reader comment listed below the article pointed out that the thin enamel bracelets were incorrectly price by Hermes. On the H website they are all listed at $450. However I checked my receipt from yesterday I was charged extra $$. The register ring up these thin enamel bracelets at the original price $475.

The comment stated if you don't point out @ the register Hermes will not adjust. If you point out the incorrect original price ring up, the cashier will adjust back down to $450 as the original price

Just noticed the same thing on my clipper watch too. Got charged 4250usd instead of 3800usd tag price. Didn't bother to go back for adjustment today bcs of the long wait to get in!!! This is so sneaky of H!!!😔

I argued the point, was told that was the price and decided where they could stick their phony discounts. It was the first time I ever left something I liked behind at an H sale.

That was me! I noticed the price differences when they rang up my heure double tour - they rang it up for $2600 instead of $2300 - but my cashier was well informed and caught on to it asap. I think some of the cashiers were hermes employees and others were haskin employees and that made a big difference. She price adjusted all my bangles, watches and even caught a price difference on one of my fragrances that I did not.
