New to VCA (and jewelry in general), really need some advice!

Hi! I think you tried on the long 47” Magic. That would hit your hip. It’s quite long, but it only has 16 motifs, so it’s a lot of chain. I am almost sure that is the one you tried on because you purchased the Magic 6 motif necklace, you were looking at pieces in the Magic case is my guess.

Try on the 20, I really so think it would hit you perfect and gorgeous on you. Plus, it’s a more substantial look than the longer Magic 16 because you get 20 motifs and they are all symmetrical. The long Magic 16, while long, is lighter and more whimsical. At times, depending on the blouse, it can get lost actually, to me.

Try the 20! From your photos, it’s so you!

Thank you! Most of my jewelry is in my parents house since I never really wore them, I made some photos with the ones I could find:

1. I dont own any white gold pieces except for the sweet studs I posted in earrings thread so I found this silver ring I had from pandora couple of years ago and I thought maybe it is okayish to give an idea about the undertone of my skin.

2. The ring from my grandpa (I keep it as a souvenir) it is written 18k inside but it actually seems quite rose goldy gold I am not sure if they had a different mixture for gold on 1960 but I find it a very nice subtle gold. (I sound a bit confusing here because I said I didnt like PG on my skin in the beginning of this thread)

3. The one with pearls is actually a necklace (but it is easier to photograph it as bracelet) I am also not sure if the gold is 18k or 22k since my mom likes very rich yellow gold colour and this one was from her.

4. The chain is also I believe 18k gold I didnt really check it. Can be 14k aswell since it is chain and it has to be strong but I think 18k because I also have some 14k pendants and this one is way more yellow than those.

I am not sure about my undertone I have both green and purple/blue veins however I find myself not very good looking with colours like brown, orange, yellow but also with very bright blues like turqoise, mid tone and peachy pinks, midtone blues and greens, greys or taupe etc. I find myself best looking in black and white (or dark colours with some richness like bordeaux and navy). So I think I have a neutral undertone but I am not very sure.

You might be one of the lucky people with a neutral skin tone and can wear all the metals. But if you do favor black and white in clothing, as willeyi said, I think the white gold pieces would stand out a little more. I know they do on me. It's good to have a place to start, and many people end up collecting more than one metal eventually. Many of us are not able to access a boutique at this time, so eventually, going to one and trying on various pieces is the very best way to know what you love most.

Based on how clothes look on you and white, black, navy look good, I would go with WG.
The VCA gold is very yellow, almost like 22K gold.

I think the WG MOP would be gorgeous on you and your outfits

I also think that I will indeed start with safe WG and go further with what stands nice on me whenever boutiques and boarders are open again (the most nearby boutique is in Paris, so that will take some time I think). I wrote down all the recommended pieces and I will try all them all. Probably they will hate me in there haha.

How nice to have Paris as your closest boutique! But yes, it may be awhile before many of us travel. Don't worry about trying on many things! At these prices, we need to be sure of what we like best!

When I get a new piece of jewelry or a bag I’m embarrassed to say I stay up late and work out some outfits, so here is a brunello short sleeved turtleneck and a pic with a slim slit V neck (vintage 1960s? Donald brooks wool dress that I’ll wear out on Monday

Actually after checking thousands of reference photos and modshots I found out that long magic necklace suits my style better than 20 motif. Also the modshots from @880 with turtleneck made me love the look of bigger motifs on a sweater. I feel like 20 motif or 10 motif in general gives more flower-y look for the motif while the single pieces emphasized it as some sort of mystical symbol(?). Does this make sense or am I biased again? So I decided to order YG MOP version of the magic. I wanted the long version because you can wear it two ways and chalcedony is really not my stone so YG was the only option. But I think it will be fine with skintone since I will wear it mostly on sweaters. I cannot wait to get it!

I realized that I never really updated this thread as most of us is already on dicussion and action thread and ai just continued there at the end I got the WG pave vintage pendant and magic MOP necklace in YG. I am very happy with these pieces and thank you everyone for giving so much insight and help I am planning next to get mini frivole earring in YG to wear together with YG pieces as I have already WG pave sweets for WG pieces. Atm I am set on getting frivole earrings but I am doubting what to purchase next. I am very tempted to get magic onyx but I feel like adding a ring or bracelet would be more logical since I already have two necklaces. (Ring is independent from my e-ring. I got a piaget possession in WG, the one with 1 row pave diamonds and a single diamond as my e-ring, I am also eyeing for the long possesion necklace) would prefer 5 motif mop or onyx or thin perlee pearls of gold bangle as bracelet. I have no idea about rings, I also don’t really have preference for a certain style except for perlee clover ring (I am sure that I don’t want perlee clover, it is just too loud for my style). I am open for any suggestions YG or WG doesnt really matter I decided that I like them both so I will collect items from both metals.

Thanks I didnt wear them together yet because they are in different metals, although I wear my WG sweets with YG mop because I dont own any YG earrings yet from VCA and I find my regular YG hoops not that great with mop necklace. But I will do some modshots tonight. Do you prefer layering up mop in short length or long length?

Excuse my very festive homewear @880 I am not very fan of layering them tbh I think magic looks better on its own maybe layering with frivole or another style would be better but I still think it would look best alone
