I remember when the Mercer first came out, I went to the MK store to look at them. They felt 'off' to me-just didn't have that nice feel of leather. Now FF to yesterday when I went to the MK store to check out the new olive color for fall, I felt the Mercer tote and held it and it felt sooo much better. Maybe they were using bonded leather at first but with all the negative reviews decided to re-do them in full leather? I loved it-especially in that beautiful fall olive color!!

I believe you're right. I just came home from the MK flagstore in Oslo and had a long good look at the different Mercer bags. The large Mercer tote and the crossbody ones was very stiff to the touch, and gave a plastic feel when touched. But then I asked for a special Mercer I knew they kept in the back of the store and only took out on requests. 20170801_171733.pngIt felt really soft, laid nice against my body when worn. All the colorblock Mercer's was soft. I was however suprised when she came with it because it was so different in color from the photo. The pearl grey seemed bland and greige, not the pearl grey that my Selma has. As it turned out, this bag had two major drawbacks for me. This was quite a set back as I planned on buying that bag today. First off; I can't get used to the handles sticking up when the bag is worn on your shoulder. Second; the adjustable strap was really hard to adjust! I had to really pull the strap to change holes. I didn't buy it, and I don't regret it either. The SA said it won't hold up like the saffiano bags, and that the saffiano bags are more durable in the long run. She confirmed that the inside of the bag is pvc, although it felt like saffiano. I ended up buying another bag:love:-reveal will come:yahoo::happydance::loveeyes::hbeat:

So are all the Mercer Bags made of PVC on the inside? Is it really that bad? What about LV coated canvas? Isn’t it that PVC is also the one being used to coat the canvas? Technically, both uses PVC so both are harmful to our health?

Polyester is plastic and most of us wear it in our undergarments and clothes daily. I don't know if we are "safe" in any consumer fabric product close to our skin these days.
