I love the single and multi lipstick trunk and vanity!

Obviously, I haven't seen anything IRL, but everything else I am slightly disappointed by (don't let me stop anyone else's excitement). I think I am slightly jaded from all the new makeup brands in recent years.

Since LVMH own so many beauty brands (and retailers) I was just expecting something that topped Guerlain's or Dior's top-tier lines in packaging or more innovative than Fenty (all of which I enjoy). Their luxury 'dept store' competitors Prada, H, Gucci and of course Chanel have a high reputation, and the world is also enjoying niche brands which have outstanding formulas and packaging like Byredo, Dries Van Noten, Lisa Eldridge, Bond No9, La Bouche Rouge, and yes, some Pat McGrath and so on. I was just expecting super-luxe even at entry level from all the hype. I also think H got it right to launch one product at the time, in their case lipsticks, their most notable components (everything else is quite generic) or Prada, quirky colour combo eyeshadows. Once people have invested in one thing they tend to feel more interested and try everything that follows.

This is coming from someone who purchases Hermes makeup.... $160 for lipstick is highway robbery. I believe these prices are correct as Business of Fashion posted them this morning.

Maybe it's component + lipstick and then refills thereafter.

I think I paid a bit more for a Chanel 31 Le Rouge (approx. $195). It has a glass component for the lipstick, a leather case and the refills are half the price (approx $88) about the same as a complete H lipstick.

Hermes lipsticks here are around £63/ $84, but you can also by refills that are less.

So maybe the initial lipstick will be $160 and then they'll bring out refills so you can replace or interchange.

If LVs Beauty line does well with these prices then Chanel will probably take notice and start doing increases on their makeup like they do on everything else. 😅

I don't think so, it's a different business model. Chanel makes most of its money from Chanel Beauté, they won't want to out-price themselves out of the affordable luxury market. Anyway, they also have two-tier makeup line(s) and fragrances.

LV is selling makeup because it already lost so much of its 'first luxury purchase' which used to be a mono card holder or key-chain.

Note: Harrods and other sources point to availability from 25 August (not as below). I don't know how accurate the prices are either since Lexi Jong vid has the eyeshadows less expensive and that's dollars. (LV beauty starts at around 11:00 in).

Sorry if this was already posted: UK Bazaar

Pat McGrath, the trailblazing make-up artist and creative director of cosmetics for the fashion house, was the perfect visionary to bring the collection to life. "The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty,' McGrath previously said.

Her vision for moving the needle in the realm of beauty has translated into a collection that seems to marry the height of luxury with the sensorial side of make-up, exploring the emotional facets behind our daily routines. Described by the brand as a collection centred upon "identity, artistry and empowerment", it's not solely about the aesthetic, but rather creating formulas that encourage self-expression.

“The textures are sensorial, the shades are intentional, and the performance is there to support confidence at every level,” shares McGrath. "I am deeply involved in the pigment selection, not just in terms of colour, but in how each shade moves, reflects and transforms on the skin – this has always been my signature. Texture is just as vital too, as it must enhance but never distract. I want every product to feel as exquisite as it looks,” the make-up artist tells Bazaar.

The collection comprises 55 lipsticks (both satin and matte), eight eyeshadow palettes, 10 lip balms, and a luxury travel brush set – as well as the particularly aesthetically-pleasing miniature lipstick trunk and vanity cases. Though some might sniff at the luxury price points (with lip balms upwards of £120, and eyeshadow palettes surpassing £300), as McGrath tells Bazaar, here lies a collection redefining the notion of luxury beauty.

"The refillable formats, the rich pigments, the scent in the formulations, the architectural packaging – all of it reflects a commitment to elegance and purpose. Like the fashion and the fragrance, this is beauty that travels with you, becomes part of your story, and holds meaning beyond the surface,” she tells Bazaar.

The new collection is a thoughtful melange of fashion-forward make-up pieces, collectible items, and formulations that encourage artistry. As McGrath puts it: "The goal wasn’t just make-up: it was to create a celebration of luxury and artistry, in the spirit of Nicolas Ghesquière's timeless designs."
La Beauté Louis Vuitton launches on 29 August in the UK in-store and online.

Well, the refills seem to be the actual lipsticks at €60-65 ($70-75), and that is pretty normal compared to Dior, Chanel, etc...
They only gatekeep with those €140 ($160) first case+refill packs, so they won't be swarmed by regular people. The case is a proprietary design, but honestly it seems to be a very simple mechanism. I wouldn't be surprised if by October Amazon and Temu would be full of alternatives for $0.99.
