Both the Lou and Mini are stunning bags but they satisfy different needs.
The Mini Lou is more of a weekend/date/party dressier bag because of the chain and the size. You can fit a few things but not a lot.
But overall it is a great addition and a smart alternative to the impossibly priced Chanels and whatnot.
But in my case, it hasn’t been as practical as I imagined. I got mine in October 2022 and I actually haven’t worn it yet.
Don’t get me wrong, I love it; the dark beige in this caviar leather really stands out and it’s beautifully made, but I find that it is not the comfortable grab and go style that both my Toy Loulou and Lou Camera bags are.
But that’s just me with my lifestyle. This bag is perfect for someone who needs a fancier, more glamorous bag more often.
I’m more of a casual lunches and dinners, movies, shopping kinda gal so I just haven’t gotten the Mini Lou bang for my buck yet.
The Lou is another story. It is the easiest bag in the world and now, more so with the outside pocket.
It fits everything you need and it is comfortable to wear.
I’ve been wearing mine every weekend since I got it. The only thing with this bag is I wish it had a removable strap so we could add a chain when we wanted. Then it would be the perfect, because the only thing that’s missing is the dressier option. Still, it can be somewhat dressed up and still look nice.
I love both bags but if I had to choose, I'd definitely choose the Lou Camera Bag, for the simple reason that I would wear it a lot more than the Mini Lou.

Thank you so much! Very helpful. Yes i keep going back on forth with these 2 bags. I know mini lou wont be practical for me and because my style is very casual i don't think i can get much use from it. I just like Mini Lou coz i think it looks pretty Haha.
Only thing i'm not sure about the Lou Camera is about the strap, from what i heard the strap for Lou Camera is still quite long even in its shortest setting. I'm 5'1. oh and is the leather for Lou Camera similar to Toy Loulou?

I was looking for the Lou Camera Bag with back pocket on the YSL website and it's gone.
I just looked and it's showing me that it's available to add to cart. All of these have the back pocket.
They even have that gorgeous new color Cinnamon, that is like a tan cognac.

I totally understand. I had this dilemma for a long time too. And my case is the same as yours; my style is very casual and my outings are too so I end up using the Lou and haven't even had a chance to wear the Mini Lou. But I got it for the same reason; because it is so beautiful.
Sometimes beautiful doesn't mean practical and just because we admire a bag, it doesn't mean it is a good investment for us. My Mini is still brand new and just sitting in my closet. I consider a waste of money and space. I am thinking I might want to sell it and maybe get the YSL Puffer pouch or the wristlet in gold or dark beige to have as a dressier option instead, since that would end up being more appropriate for a wedding or fancy event than the Mini Lou which is more of an in-between bag.
I did notice this new Lou Camera Bag does have a very long strap. I agree with that. I am 5'5''-5'6'' and I have it in the second to shortest setting. I think if you get it in store, they can punch an extra hole for you, if need be. They can probably do that at NM, Saks and Nordstrom too.

My taupe camera bag came in today. My SA said that it was the only one available in the US. I also took pics of the cinnamon one. The lighting in the store isn’t good. The colors of the bags are more saturated in person.
