I think that I will soon have to make a similar decision, but what in my opinion is a pro of the hinged version is that you have a massive piece in your hands or in your safe when not wearing, i.e. a complete jewellery object and not "just" two lightweighter, on-its-own useless pieces...on the other hand the two pieces are more unique and have a long tradition...probably for 24/7, which I prefer, it doesn't matter which version...

Hey guys! I have an appointment on Friday to buy my first Love bracelet...:yahoo:I've been long overdue!!!

I originally wanted to go with the hinged mechanism because it seems sturdier, but after browsing the thread, it seems that there's a small gap where the hinge is, and knowing how picky I am, I know that would drive me crazy.

Now I'm more inclined to buy the original version with the two halves. I do love the history behind it, but I am worried that it may fall off my wrist. What are the pros and cons of each? I would only wear it alone. However, I do plan to buy the thin pave Love in the future to stack. I would also wear it 24/7 as designed, but I will have to take it off once this year due to some travels where I can't wear jewelry.

I think the small pave bracelet will eventually use the new hinge with the gap on the opposite side of the screw. It may be worth buying the classic with the new hinge design to match with the small pave bracelet in this case.

Although it seems that the latest two screw design is the best - no gaps or reports of the screws coming loose per my SA. I’m not sure if this design will be phased out.

The small pave is hinged… what do you mean? I take mine off monthly for cleaning.

I meant the hinge will be the new design with the gap at the opposite side similar to the new classic love bracelet releases. I posted a pic in the pave love thread - I couldn’t find a clear picture of the gap online. In person, it actually isn’t too bad.

Cartier has been changing the hinge design for a while now. It’s interesting… the SA I spoke with knows how many iterations there are of the locks. Like the two screw ones Classic love bracelets ended in version 4 (the one with the quarter turn clicks). I’m not sure what version the hinge is at, but it seems like this latest one could be version 3 with the gap on the opposite side.

The original hinge had no gaps. The ends were completely flushed. This was version 1.

Version 2 seems to have a small gap at the lock and clicks while wearing.

Then there is this new one with the gap on the opposite side of the locks. Seems like all hinge designs will end up with this type of lock.

For those considering the bracelet, here’s an answer I wanted when I was thinking about it. I wanted to know if you have to use the screwdriver to remove or if you can take it off more easily.

Found the answer yesterday while lifting weights. It’s super hot and my wrist wraps were starting to creep up onto my love and it was uncomfortable. I was able to remove by turning the screw with my thumbnail. Wouldn’t recommend doing this daily as it will probably tear up your manicure, but you can absolutely get it off in a pinch that way.
