It’s my home store, too. I love them all. Maisha is my SA.
The only downside is that since it moved to DC, I can no longer go there on my lunch break.
Hello there! I’m new to H but I’m excited to start my buying journey at the DC city center store! What is your experience with your SA like? How did you bring up BCK wishlists? And did you get hints/direct suggestions from your SA? Any advice you could share would be greatly appreciated!

cissy,
I may not be the best person to give you advice.
I’ve been a client of the DC and Vienna, VA store since the late 1980s. I just let my SA know what I’m interested in, and in the past, they’ve tried to accommodate me. At one time, I was a significant customer. No longer. So I do not get my wishlist items if they are rare or in high demand.

With my COVID and my future retirement lifestyle, I don’t need $5K dresses, H fine jewelry doesn’t tempt me, and just buying shawls and scarves won’t get me a Kelly Pochette. I’ve accepted that. I’ve completed my bag collection and I’m happy with that. It’s actually a relief truth be told. I did buy lots of under the radar bags (Plumes, Opli, Sherpa backpack) on TheRealReal.
My advice to you is to be kind, show an appreciation and enthusiasm for the brand and you will do well.

I will say the in store experience is not really fun. You have to wear latex gloves to handle any item, and they no longer serve drinks and snacks.

Thank you so much for the reply. It’s such a difficult time for so many of us. I really appreciate your sharing your story and I agree, its so nice to get everything you want and wave goodbye to this H chasing game. I hope everything goes well for you and your family!

I can’t wait to complete my collection. I really want to aim for that SO. Right now, I am still waiting for a bag from this store and it has been almost a year :(

Hello there! Do you mind sharing which SA you are working with? How often do you buy from him/her? I’m still wondering how to bring up the topic of BCK bags at the store so any tips welcome! :)

I am thinking of stopping by this location during a trip, does anyone know if they’re well stocked recently? My local boutique is small and they didn’t get much in so hoping I can get some items from this trip instead. Thanks in advance.

It’s not a big store like, Madison, Beverly Hills or San Francisco. So don’t get your hopes up.

You also need to make an appointment first.

If you touch any merchandise, it needs to be quarantined for 24 hours. It’s OK if you touch items using latex gloves, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Part of the joy of Hermès is the luxurious, tactile feel of the products.

Lingering is not encouraged.

They may or may not give you a bottle of Perrier to enjoy after your visit.

I visited this store for the first time during quarantine and couldn’t have been more impressed. It may not be liking to some, but due to the current circumstances it’s the best alternative for a shopping experience during the pandemic. I hadn’t been to a store since March and their precautions were top notch and put me at ease to shop. Clients were spaced throughout the store and areas were disinfected immediately (ie chairs, the checkout counter and cc machines prior to my checkout) I was still able to model/ try bags. The staff was super friendly And helpful. I like that it’s by appt only bc it’s a controlled environment. Other shops in that area weren’t following such strict precautions.

I only buy what I love and I try to keep a good relationship with my SA. I think telling them what you like should be easy. They expect you would want a BKC anyway so just be up front. I told my SA the first couple times exactly what I want and try not to push it every time.

I agree with you. It’s completely safe and sanitary. And I appreciate that. But I am used to being able to linger, have the SA give me a wink and a nod for Champagne — even though I likely refuse and take some Perrier. The in store experience is not the same. And that is true everywhere.

I think I kinda prefer how things are right now. I was in the store last week and there were maybe 4 customers in the store. Each of us sit in an area and work with our own SA. A lady wandered around and was told to stay within her area. I like the privacy aspect too. I saw a lady walked out with a big box (a bag maybe) and I really wanted to know what she got. LOL

I will be traveling to DC next month and would like to make an appointment at this store. Since I don’t have an SA there, what’s the best way to make an appointment, do they answer their phone?

Yes. You should call and make one. Just tell them what time you wanna come in. It’s not that busy and you should be able to score an appointment.
