New H Store at City Center here in DC

The Tyson's area is shopping central for so many people that I would think the Vienna store will remain. It has better access than the larger malls, IMO. That area is shopping on steroids.

The whole DC metro area seems to be booming with tons of new construction, condos, offices, shops. And H can't increase its business if it doesn't max customer exposure. I think these various venues would serve different clienteles, as someone pointed out. And, I can't imagine the NM giving up its H boutique as I believe it's the only NM that has one. It's not a huge boutique but always interesting to visit, and so forth. Plus, the clientele can use their NM and accumulate points or whatever.

The Washington Post style section has a big story today on CityCenter and it confirms that Hermes will open there:

CityCenter came together after the 20-year-old convention center at 11th Street and New York Avenue NW was razed in 2004.... CityCenter will feature 40 individual boutiques and restaurants. Tumi, Allen Edmonds and Kate Spade have opened; Longchamp, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Hermes, Paul Stuart and Ferragamo are among the brands slated to join them in the next year.... Real estate brokers say Tiffany and Prada passed and a deal with Apple fell through.

It will be nice to have an Hermes boutique right in downtown D.C. rather than having to go out to the suburbs!

Projected date is February 2015. Tis likely the boutique at Tyson will close but I am hoping not. The thought of going into downtown sickens me for logistical reasons.

Has anyone visited the Hermes Washington DC store? I work near there and often eat lunch right outside Hermes and love watching people come in and out, but I never hear about that store on this forum! Hermes is outside of my price point right now, but I’d love to hear people’s stories about that store!

I bought a pair of shoes there a few weeks ago while I was traveling for a conference. Great store. Awesome manager who recommended a good restaurant nearby. The staff was lovely.

I bought a men's wallet there a couple of years ago. The store was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. I don't love the actual location of the store though. It's tough to get to and out of the way for me. I preferred it when it was in Tyson's Corner.
