Just for the record: It wasn't my intent to insult anyone. When Keith Haring was referred to as "some guy" I thought the person was being sarcastic. And regardless of everyone's age, I have to admit that I was surprised that many people didn't know who he was. I mean I wasn't born when artists like Magritte, Dali, and Escher were alive, but I still know who they are and how influential they were. Using your age is no excuse.

Dismissing the opportunity to learn about things and people, even if they don't interest you, is a missed opportunity. It encourages closed mindedness and cuts off curiosity.

Isn't the reason why we come to tPF to learn and explore? I found tPF when I was searching for into about a specific bag. I read a lot on all the different types of brands, even if I don't own them, just to learn.

Anyway, if any of you didn't know who Keith Haring was, you probably do now.

Enjoy what is out there! There is so much! Even if it doesn't interest you.

I think people didn't take the opportunity to learn because it got confrontational, which is why I said if someone doesn't know it's much better to try to show them than to say 'you really should already know'. Also some people don't have time to try to learn about everything and always explore new things.

Anyway...we should all just move on now!

I want to see more collaborations; of any kind but particularly with artists. I didn't know about Gary Baseman before those collections, although I recognized his cartoon and his style of art when I looked him up. Turns out I knew his work but didn't know whom to attribute it to. It would be cool to have more of that. Also wouldn't mind another set of items with Baseman, they all flew off the shelves anyway. Would it be too cat-lady of me to want some kind of very subtle cat inspired collection? I don't mean cats printed on bags of course, but something with feline motifs?

Nope, I wasn't being sarcastic, he was just some guy to me....and honestly he's still just some artist guy to me now. And I didn't say that my age was an excuse with whether or not I knew who he was, that age remark was about the original Star Wars movie. As far as learning about things that don't interest me, why? If I have absolutely no interest in art, why should I learn about it when my time could be better spent learning about things that do interest me or at least could benefit me in some way. I have many interests, but art and artists is not one of them.....though I do know the basics much as any other person would.

I wasn't referring to you when I remarked about someone using their age as an excuse not to know something. That was someone else. But at any rate ... I really do believe that learning about all kinds of things -- even if they don't interest us -- makes us more rounded individuals and is of benefit. But you do what works for you!

I love the Gary Baseman line. I have one tote that I snagged from the online outlet a few months ago. I would have liked to get the powder blue tote that was out quite a while ago but they were selling for ridiculous prices on eBay and I believe some of them were counterfeits as well.

What did you think of the Felix collaboration? I would have liked more, it kind of came and went quickly. I would die for a Pusheen collaboration!

That's cool. ;) And I do.

I would have loved to add the Felix charm to my collection, but I just couldn't bite the bullet on the price. So I just drool over other people's Felix charm.

Love that charm! I was also on the fence with the Felix Rogue bags. I really wanted one (well, both of them, haha) but just couldn't deal with the price. As it is, I only have one Rogue bag, and it popped up at an outlet, so I paid far under retail for it. I jazzed it up with a Rexy charm.

Yeah I liked the Felix collaboration too, especially the white rogue with HA HA on it, and the black with the racecar felix (i think that's what it was called). I ended up getting a patchwork rogue but if I had a bigger collection I would have gotten some Felix stuff. If any of them ever make it to the outlet I'll definitely grab them.

So true! I know who Gary Baseman, Rodarte, and Keith Harding are thanks to Coach. Looking forward to more collaborations.

Plus you never know, someday I may be asked a question for a million dollar prize about Keith Harding and I can now answer it! A girl can dream!

Oh man! That sounds like fun!

Oh, the stories I could tell you ... I forgot to mention Tricky ... he had a real crush on Dino Flintstone (who was really a girl), and Fred and Wilma thought they'd be a cute couple, but Dino had her eyes on Wooly Mammoth! There's no accounting for taste, huh?

Just a quick FYI -- it's HARING ... without the "D". :graucho:

I'm guessing you were referring to me with the age comment. I have spent my entire life since age 8 in the music and entertainment industry. My sister is a professional artist yet I still had never heard of him or recognized his work. After asking a lot of my friends/colleagues if they knew of him, I have found out that only one of them knew who he was (besides my sister who read of him in college). What is awesome though is that he is a great fan and collector of Haring's work. He, along with his late partner even met and worked with him to help raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS years ago. My mentor/friend (I wish to keep him anonymous) is now retired but has lived an amazing and eventful life for decades writing about/touring with some of the most amazing musicians in the past 50 years. His home here in the states is like an amazing museum of his adventurous life. I'm hoping the next time I make it out to visit I will take some pics of the few pieces he has collected. Funny thing, he was actually shocked I even asked him about Haring because he couldn't believe that I had heard of him.

He has asked me to order him some items from the Haring collaboration. Does anyone know if any of the proceeds will be going to a good cause?

I'd love something with cats! I'd prefer a subtle cat print also. I was a little disappointed with the Felix collection. It had some nice things but it wasn't very extensive like the Disney and others have been, so there weren't very many choices.
