Need to Source Handbag Manufacturing

I am going to start my own line of bags - after years of collecting other designer bags, I have decided its time to put my own ideas into a business!
Does anyone know where I can go to source pattern and sample makers to get this business going? I am hoping to manufacture in Canada or the US (I live in Toronto, Canadaa) as for the first collection I am going to need to be close by to ensure my quality standards are met.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas for me as to where to begin sourcing these people.
