prizee, 2011 Anthracite is indeed very green under bright yellow lighting. I had one and sold it due to the green undertones. On the day I decided to sell it I was shopping at Kohls wearing jeans and a grey print top, and the bag looked so green under the lighting that it clashed with my outfit.

In other light sources it looks dark grey with blue undertones. Some Anthra bags may have more or less green but they all have it, from 2010 onward. I also think that some people only see the primary color and not the undertones. Anthra is a very subjective color depending on who is looking at it, but I saw what you did! :D

Your best bet is to check auction sites for a 2008 or 2009 Anthra as both years had less green tones.

Thank you, roey! That's very helpful. :smile1:

Why so many varations from year to year, bag to bag? If a color is released each season why aren't the dyes consistent? I don't understand, why not use the same dye formula? From what I understand it seems anthra is the most inconsistent in color. New to Bal so I'm confused about this color issue with the bags.:shrugs:

Wierd; in my opinion it has a pretty noticeable green undertone but I've never seen it in natural lighting. One of the Anthracites where I work got returned because my client was disgusted at how green it was.

A couple of weeks ago, I hand picked my Anthra 2011 SGH City from about 8 different bags that the boutique had in stock. All were 2011 but they ranged in shade from straight dark grey right through to an almost teal sort of colour. Honestly! :wtf:

All were 2011 bags and all came in to store in the same delivery. I picked a very dark grey bag with just the faintest blue undertones which can only be seen in artificial light.

Then, earlier this week, I went to the Balenciaga Boutique in London to handpick a Anthra with RGGH. They had several to choose from but all were the same - grey with definite green and blue tones. I will post pics at the weekend and you will see the difference between bags - same "colour", same season but totally different tones!:weird:

It's funny because, both SA's at the different stores saw different colours and undertones to what I saw...... Anthra is a funny colour!

I just received an '11 Anthra RH Day this evening and it is a steel-y grey.

I used to own a Plomb SGH City and this color is like a darker version of Plomb.

It hasn't been out in natural light yet, but I was looking at it from all angles and under different bulbs - so far no green undertones. Perhaps a bit of teal, if you are really looking for it.

This bag is a keeper for me, will try and get some photos during daylight tomorrow.

Here are some photos of my new '11 Anthra RH Day.

There are no green undertones, just a slight blue-ish/teal.

I would not have asked for it, but they sent me the smoothest leather I have ever seen on a Bal bag. It is nearly as smooth as my S/S '10 Canard/Petrol moto jacket. I took a comparison shot of the bag with the jacket and they camouflauge each other.

I generally prefer a more distressed leather with plenty of wrinkles, but I am very surpised and pleased with '11 Anthra.

All photos are taken in natural sunlight only.

My 2011 Anthracite City doesn't really have any green undertones, but more deep teal/blue... It's not even really dark grey most of the time, just that dark teal colour.

The definition of teal is bluish-green so yes, your bag does have green undertones! I think this is the disconnect with Anthra; owners are expecting to see some sort of bright green undertone but it's more subtle, like a greyish green mixed with blue.

My 2011 Anthracite definitely has green undertones. I didn't like it very much at first cause of the green undertones which looked like moss green. But later under certain lighting it looks like a bluish-grey kind of color. So I decide to keep using it until I get tired of the color :)
