True, this article's a few years old (2011)-- http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-16058275

But, UK customs & Brtitish trading standards officials seemed to agree that a non-fictional demographic would appreciate these items.
As did a charity organization, to whom they donated seized fake designer clothes for logo removal & redistribution.

I think, when one sees a useful coat or bag as just that/nothing more, appropriate repurposing feels kind. Not insulting or political.
If the redistribution is done legally, why not?

Hello again everyone.
Sorry I didn't mean for this thread to turn into a big debate about the morality of replica bags. I understand it's a ripe issue but try to stick to giving advice- you never know, someone else could read this thread and really need to know what to do with their fakes! :D

Anyway, back to my original post. Just a quick update, I have found someone who might be interested in using them herself, so at least they will be given a new home soon.

And what someone else said on here is completely right, if the person doesn't want them after all I might just keep them for a while longer THEN decide what to do. No rush I suppose.

Thanks again for the answers, I appreciate it :D

Thanks for your replies everyone :)
You're right, I'm not going to recoup any losses so I might as well take a deep breath and say goodbye to them.

Make a Youtube Video DESTROYING them… :D

Seriously, DESTROY them, before you toss them, so somebody does not find them and
think they are authentic and clean them up and RE-Sell them thinking they are
REAL….

It is the fakes that UNKNOWING people think are authentic that
get on to the market, and buyers buy them, NOT knowing until the bag
arrives that it is a fake, then they have to spend money to
get their money BACK….

If you give these to somebody else, they may at some point
end up on ebay…..

Come on,… Fakes are costing HONEST buyers, MONEY they can't afford ….

It is BEST to just destroy them…. If you don't…
I guarantee that at some point, YOUR fake bags are going to hurt somebody…

The person YOU give them to MIGHT be a great and honest person…

BUt… somebody else might steal her bag, on the street or in a pub,
thinking it is authentic, and then it ends up on ebay…

she may end up donating them to a second hand store…

Somebody buys it, thinking it is authentic, and it ends up on ebay
and somebody looses money on the bag…

Somebody down the line SELLS it to a new Consignment store…
Somebody walks in and buy the bag…. they may NOT even know it is fake…
and will carry it for a couple years, then one days they find out they
spent $500 on a fake bag.. NOW, they are not able to get their money back….

BY the way…. I have seen EVERY single issue I describe, happen
either to ME, personally… OR to good friends of mine…..

I've seen fake bags sold on leboncoin in France (similar to craigslist). I actually went about reporting the items one day to leboncoin and the response i got was that they do not have enough information to accept the claim that it's fake. One of the bags said "Balenciaga Style bag"...which would already violate the European law in its own accord, but apparently it doesn't matter. I've also seen a ton of replica bags on gumtree in the UK and no one seems to bat an eye, which annoys me quite a bit because they are advertised as real and the websites are not willing to do anything about it (i do understand that it would be difficult to verify).

If you have friends and family who want them knowing it's fake, I don't see a problem with giving it to them. Maybe you can strip the logo off first if at all possible before giving it away. Personally i don't care what an item is, i just hate seeing anything go into a garbage bin and buried into another landfill :/ Repurposing them is such a great idea. Ce n'est pas un vrai Prada is hilarious.

I would destroy them. Once they're out of your control, you have no say what happens to them. You will have no way of preventing them from ending up in the hands of someone who resells them.
Do you really want to risk them falling into the wrong hands?

I'm in no way supporting the purchasing of fakes in any terms. HOWEVER you spent money on these bags and i think it would be a bit wasteful to throw them away. If it were me i would donate them. I'm sure there are tuns of fakes sitting around in thrift stores and the staff/volunteers don't know the difference. There are still tuns of people who buy bags because they like the style and don't care about the name(or lack of). Also i know in my city there are organizations you can donate professional looking clothes to help homeless/less fortunate people get the proper attire to get an interview and jobs. Perhaps where you live they have similar organizations like that you could donate them too. You could also give them to young kids to use for dress up or even some live theatres often take in odd things to use as part of costumes for plays and performances etc.
At the end of the day you can do what you want with it i personally think that destroying it is a little excessive especially when you paid good money for it. Good luck regardless.

I regularly donate bags to my local Thrift Store. As a courtesy I sort through any purported "high end" bags that they have received before they put them out for sale. Any counterfeit bags are slashed and immediately put out in the dumpster. Why the waste you may ask?

Because it is illegal to sell counterfeit goods and any entity doing so is breaking the law. So (what may have originally been misconstrued as an act of charity) is actually putting that selfsame charitable shop/store at risk of criminal prosecution.

Don't do it. Would you pass on a counterfeit twenty dollar bill just because it would be a shame to waste it after you'd paid "good" money for it?

Ultimately you will do what you want with your counterfeit bags. But please don't delude yourself that there is no right or wrong answer. In your heart of hearts you know there is. Otherwise you wouldn't have started this thread and agonized over this matter for the length of time that you have.

Now, that's a great idea!! Posting the video of you destroying the bags will help to put out the word about counterfeits & replicas at the same time while taking a positive step forward & moving past them.

:nogood::nogood::nogood:
The fact that thrift store salespeople can be duped and then in turn dupe others is a bad thing, not a good thing. And a fake bag does not contribute to anyone's proper attire for work, no matter their economic situation.
