I think I'm pretty settled on the Minetta for my next bag but I'm not sure which style I want. Would you go black gathered leather or the red pintuck?

For background, I have my first ever bag the small Sadie in ocelot and I love her because she's vintage looking. But, I am a color girl. I like that the red is more orangey and shows the leather detail better and matches the gold hardware more. Not a fan of gold but it is what it is.

Still, you can never go wrong with a black bag and I really don't have one except Sadie which in ocelot is not really a Spring/Summer fabric. Love the gathered leather, really not a fan of the gold on black since it shows more, but I do need a second all purpose black bag and I think I could live with it.

So, who would you choose? I need a shove in either direction so please push away and help the new girl out. Thank you!

Honestly I'm not sure you'll be happy with either if you don't love the gold hardware. I'm a hardcore 100% silver and gunmetal hardware girl. I've bought three bags over the last year or so with gold hardware because it was the only option, and I loved the bag and the leather color and felt sure I could get past the gold hardware. I ended up returning all three because I just couldn't make myself love it.

The thing about Coach is that if you love a bag, chances are it will eventually come out in a color combination that works for you. Don't settle!

Really? I honestly don't mind it on the red since its an orangey red and the gold matches more. The more I consider the black you're very right. It would bother me in the long run because it just stands out on that black and I really dislike gold. I'm afraid to wait for silver because business wise I wouldn't think it would make sense to do two different hardwares. Does Coach really do that?

I wanted to share my experience, but I know not everyone is as crazy about it as I am. :)

Usually Coach only does black bags with a choice of gold or silver. The black Phoebe came in all three - brass, light gold, and silver. The Madison Hobo comes with both silver and light gold. The majority of colors lately have come with light gold but they usually do at least one or two colors per season with silver.

Strangely, Bleecker Love Red has silver, but Madison Love Red has light gold. It's crazy sometimes!

Thank you for this! I'm new to it all so that's fabulous to know. My black bag in silver is a sure thing. Just have to find it and fall in love...

Have you looked at the Madison Hobo or are you looking only at the "mini" size bags? Check out the Madison Hobo Clubhouse, and also some of the Hobo reveal threads. It's an amazing, comfortable bag with gorgeous chain detail on the strap.

I actually have the Park Hobo in cherry red that I use as my travel carry on. I'm a mini person 5'2" maybe so I can't do very big bags or what is even medium to most people everyday. I don't carry much either so hobo or duffles generally are too large or cumbersome for me. Although the Madison hobo pintuck is divine! Very pretty but those bags tend to wear me instead if the other way around. :)

LOL, I'm 5'1" and I love bigger bags. The Park hobo in cherry is beautiful - love that one!

I love the idea of the Love Red pintuck (and glad for confirmation in this thread that it's a red-orange/kind of coral since I was wondering myself). I just got my Madison Minetta in the acid green and I LOVE the style. I'm already dreaming of another one. If this came in robin's egg I would pull the trigger faster than you could snap your fingers! I tend to not like gold hardware, but it doesn't bother me with my acid green one in the slightest. With the current colors I think I'd go for Love Red plain or pintuck if I ever got a second.

I tend to like slightly bigger purses for when I travel (so I can cram lots of stuff in), but am leaning towards smaller purses that pop with color for fun (ummm I say this knowing I just bought a green Kate Spade satchel for an upcoming trip, uh that's a "neutral" right? lol). So the mini sizes are just perfect for that! I'm trying to hunt down all the smaller Coach styles now. A few of the styles I love but wish they were just a hair smaller. Minetta is small and lots of pockets so it's great!

Thanks! I have personally touched the love red regular Minetta and its definitely an orange red. Very pretty! Since you have the acid green, can you tell me if its really yellow like it looks in pics or is there really some green in there? I love green and if it is more of a citrus lime color, it may be on the wish list if I love the pintuck as much as I think I will. Unfortunately no stores around here have one to see IRL. Glad to know you are enjoying one already!

You may laugh, I just walked around the house with it putting it up against various yellow and green things to answer you (and none of my iPhone photos show much of a different or I'd share)! :p I definitely think it's a yellow that leans green. It's what my mom would call "grellow"-- one of both of our favorite colors, kind of greeny yellow, like chartreuse. I put it against our sunny yellow tea kettle, and it's definitely way more green. And then I put it into our yellow-green chair, and it's the same color. So it reads kind of like a yellow, but it totally has green in there. But I wouldn't call it green.

Here's another way to judge it: I was previously debating if I wanted to buy some yellow shoes to match, and every yellow I've seen I've thought, "Nope, too yellow". Oh and another judge! I've been wanting a yellow purse, and I still do. Does that help?

I love it but sadly haven't carried it yet since I work from home, but it's going out tonight for V-day! Carrying it while wearing a bright red dress and shoes. Did I mention I love color? :laugh:
