for me it will always be the Cartier! I have it in SS and love it! but you have to go for the one that makes your heart sing. Rolex although a great company will never do anything for me.

Hi all tPF members,

I need your help please.

As you can see from the title, I'm going to getting my first luxury watch, how exciting:p but I wasn't sure should get Rolex or Cartier?

Any advise please? Thanks in advance!

Definitely Rolex! I think it pops more.

I think a solid gold BB is TDF, that being said, I also love the durability of my Rolex and I've noticed that many of the Cartier styles tend to look dated after a while. However the Rolex is forever....

They are both beautiful, go with your gut! Simply cannot go wrong with either!

Vote for Rolex. I have worn mine daily for 8 years without issues. Love not having to worry about getting it wet because I do wear it in the pool and to the beach on vacation.

I have a Cartier Tank Francaise and it is definitely lighter than my 31mm Rolex. The first week I wore my Rolex I noticed the weight difference, but after that I just got used to it and I wear it 24/7. I love it! And yes, love that I don't have to worry about getting it wet!

I think the Rolex bc it's more durable. A gold Rolex is heavier, yes, but try them both on to see how you feel. I found the weight of a stainless and gold 36 mm Rolex too much for me - but not just a stainless Rolex. But gold is what I would want too if I were in your shoes! Cartier doesn't seem as durable to me, but I do prefer their watch designs.

Love Cartier design but it would be for me always a second watch, first is definitely Rolex! Absolutely love their quality and the fact that I don't need to baby it and to worry if it gets wet. For the weight, rolex its a little bit heavier which is a plus for me as well(especially when we talking about gold;))
