@sjunky13 I’m so sorry this happened to you!! I know that feeling of panic and stomach twisting as you search for your ring.. Many others have suggested this but I wanted to share my experiences in case you haven’t checked already. One time I was washing my hands and totally didn’t realize my ring had slipped off with the paper towel and I threw it in the trash of a public restroom. I realized it maybe 5-10 minutes later and luckily it was still in the trash in the crumpled paper towel.

Another time I accidentally threw away a pair of small diamond earrings since I put them on top of a semi crumpled tissue, and for some reason mindlessly crumpled it up while I was cleaning and threw it in the trash. Realized it later on that night and went through every single garbage bin separating out every single tissue (yes, gross) but found it that way.

More recently I was distracted and took my rings off and put them in my sweater pockets to wash the dishes and forgot about them completely, only to panic about an hour later since I’d completely forgotten where I put them. After looking at the usual suspect places I put my ring down to do dishes at I remembered to check the clothes I was wearing and it was in the pockets. I usually never put my rings in sweater pockets, so I didn’t think to check there first. Perhaps you could’ve been distracted and put the ring away somewhere you don’t usually do and forgot about it. I’m hoping it’ll turn up somewhere in your home!! Meanwhile check all items of clothing with pockets just in case? And any pouches it could’ve slipped in. Perhaps drawers too in case it slipped out while you were going through your clothes.

Another place that could be a suspect place is your sink drain, I’ve dropped a pair of earrings into it before and luckily because of the S shaped pipe it didn’t get drained to the sewage. Check your drains if you’re able to!

The suggestions to check your cars in all their little nooks and crannies is a good idea as well since they have many places a ring can hide in. I secretly wish all items can come with a built-in tracker for times like these. Please keep us updated!!

Regarding your purchases, I’d move on and save up for the other ring. It’s still recent, so I think the odds of you finding the ring are great. Like other have said, I would continue with the other items in your wishlist and then circle back.

And all these stories of lost jewelry reminded me of myself. Lol, I recently lost a whole ass jewelry box. I found out two weeks ago. In May, I had to put my stuff into storage, so I’m living at my parent’s home in the meantime. Anyways, two weeks ago, I was looking for my dainty Tiffany diamond eternity bands that I used to be obsessed with (before I found out how delicate micropave settings are). Anyways, I couldn’t find the rings anywhere. I got a new jewelry box earlier this year, and put everything I frequently wear into the new box, while everything else stayed in the old box. Well, the short story is that I can’t find the old jewelry box. Rip.

I’m sure it’s not lost… Because who loses an entire box of jewelry??? But I literally had not even noticed for two months that it was gone. There are 4 platinum Tiffany eternity rings in that jewelry box. And also a white gold half-circle diamond band my mom bought me when I was in middle school. As well as costume jewelry and other things that I can’t remember that well. Officially, the box is lost. But I’m going to move to a new apartment in 2 weeks, so hopefully I find it while that’s all happening — either in storage or somewhere in my bedroom. I have a hard time believing that I left the jewelry box at my old place. And I don’t think I’d be so careless as to actually lose a whole damn box of jewelry, but I have no idea where I put it. I’m not stressed though… I firmly believe that it’s going to show up somewhere, because a misplaced box of jewelry is not easily lost for long.

Following my own advice, I’m just going to continue buying things off my wishlist, because I’m sure the jewelry box will show up somewhere randomly when I’m not expecting it.

Ty @sosauce I hope you find your jewelry box I would be freaking out losing the box and a few rings. I have lost so many material items in my life and I usually get over them quickly. I have no wedding ring now, so that is another reason to rebuy.
@Abottleofred.
TY! I am hoping they turn up!

Ty to all that have commented.

I know that you already had a lot of comments, but I will share my experience, too, if you don’t mind. Right before the pandemic hit I was visiting my parents (I live abroad) with my then 5 months old son. I took off my wedding ring and eternity band to wash my hands and lost them. I was sure that it wasn’t outside, but couldn’t find them anywhere. About six months after I lost them, my mother found them in the washing machine, stuck between the sealing and the door…
I hope you find it and I sympathize. You must be feeling awful.

Hi Guys, I just purchased a Cartier pave love ring last month. It was stunning. I made a post recently and was so happy to have it.
I bought it on my wedding anniversary and was planning to wear it as a wedding ring .

Well I lost it. YUP. I am so mad at myself, it was not insured .
I wore it before I could insure it and I lost it. I don't know it I left it in a restroom somewhere or it was accidently thrown away. My husband and I turned the house inside out looking for it. I have the rest of the jewelry I wore and I honestly have no clue what happened to it. I do not remember taking it off at all. Very odd.

Should I repurchase it? With tax it was 8k. I had been saving to add the pave JUC ring and some other jewelry and if I rebuy it would cut into that. My sa says I can return it if we find the original.
I have been upset since I lost it.
I just inspired a friend to buy the same ring. She bought it and it looks great on her. In can't even look at her insta lol. I want my ring back!!
I hate that I would be spending 2 times for the one ring. My husband says to do what I want. The extra money is stupid tax for being not responsible.

I don't have unlimited funds and what I have is it for jewelry for the next few years. Ugh. I have no many things on my Wishlist and if I buy this, then one has to go.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I know I should have insured it before wearing. I have beat myself up for 2 weeks now.
My beautiful friend, you know how sad I am this happened to you :( Your purchase of this ring inspired me to buy my own, but I have a feeling it'll turn up when you least expect it. Sending all good vibes and prayers your way my sweet friend, love you!

I am so sorry this happened.

Amex purchase protection should cover accidental loss. It covered a pair of shoes that were eaten by my friend's puppy!
The account I purchased it on was my regular AmEx. I just upgraded this account to gold this week. They cover 1k, but said loss was not covered , just theft. If you have any other info please lmk. I feel stupid for purchasing on the regular amex as I would have been covered if I switched cards.

I am SO sorry to hear that. I have lost expensive things, and it stings terribly, but please don't beat yourself up. I would move on and buy another. If you look at it from a long view, in a few years you will have forgotten all about the money, but the joy of the ring will still be with you <3 Also, if anyone else in your family lost a ring, you would forgive them instantly....so forgive yourself :flowers:

Ty so much!! I agree, I have lost a lot of material items in my life. Life goes on . It is already a sunk cost and gone.
If it turns up that's great.
I will be in Cartier very soon and make a final choice and insure asap! xo

I know what you're going through. I lost my wedding set (since it was soldered together) a year and a half after we were married, but thankfully my renter's insurance covered it, so I was able to replace it. I truly hope you find it and it's just one of those freaky things.

Update! Found my jewelry box yesterday. It was under a random pillow on the ground. So, there you go. But the 4 rings were not inside, which I now think was because I gave them to my sister. Eh. Anyways, hope is not lost.

Glad you found your jewelry box.
Call and ask your sister if you gave her 4 rings. This should be simple enough.
