NANO SPEEDY - Has anyone removed (cut off) their attached strap?

To cut or not to cut?

it's your purse totally! I voted Nooooooo though. Lol it's better to have it than regret it and try to 'reattach it?' through a bag spa or something. Unnecessary costs and could affect resell value. Up to you!

If you want to cut the strap, then I'd say it'd be better if you just unpick the stitching on the strap that holds it to the bag instead (you can buy a cheap seam ripper from Walmart/Joanns for this purpose). That way at least the leather strap is still fully intact and you could always get someone to reattach it down the line (or you could reuse that strap and attach clips to the end).

But to differ from everyone else's answer, I'd probably remove the strap lol.

All of this.

I would have the scissors in hand and do it, if it were me. I don't sell my bags, and that is why I don't mind customizing bags to work better for me, LV, or not. But, that is me talking here. If it is your forever bag and it drives you nuts to have that long strap,I would do it in a heartbeat.

I personally would cut it and attach the strap to a new hook or lobster clasp.. so i can easily make it a top handle bag without a strap hanging.. but i never sell my bags and usually do the ‘modification’ after a year of purchasing the bag.. i did this with other bags i own and had no regrets..

No way. I have a feeling your mind is made up to do it, but I’ve desperately longed and hunted for bags, and then after having them for awhile, considered selling. In fact I sold one that I was insane about obtaining. No matter how cute the bag is now, it’s a trend that’s already on the way out. I’d find a way to enjoy it without altering it.

If there was a Nano speedy with cut straps BUT used with another LV strap for sale pre loved I would have bought it lol. It's like using a pochette accessoires or any other bag with another strap. Why should the Nano be any different?

However, reading some posts about the warranty is the only thing putting me off.. Would LV not repair the bag because removal of the strap? What parts of the Nano speedy is being repaired? The zipper, vachetta and hardware? It doesn't have anything to do with the strap... or does it? And if the strap needs to be replaced the strap is being removed anyway.. and replaced. I don't know guys, just putting it out there. Please enlighten me.

I think it varies by the boutiques and the CA you work with. The removal of the strap may possibly open up excuse for them to reject the repair service but I don't think it'll automatically void the warranty because LV doesn't really offer warranty, at least not in writing.

If its my bag I would cut the strap off, only $1,000 bag you will be able to sell it in the future anyway if you want to sell it even without strap you shall be pocket in $600 or attach a nice non LV strap or gold tone metal chain which cost extra $20 to sell together, so only lose $400 to $500 while you can use it extactly the way you want to use it. and if you are really good at selling, you shall be able to sell it even or more than the retail even without the original strap, very much depends on how you pitch it.

on the other hand, its your bag so you have to be willing to take the risk of losing money etc to make the decision.

I would have a shoemaker take it off carefully. If you ever want to have it reinstalled you could possibly bring it back to your local store and have it done. Or if you decide down the road to sell it, you could always have the strap replaced at LV. I have done that to a Michael Kors bag and enjoyed my bag the way I like it.
