NANO SPEEDY - Has anyone removed (cut off) their attached strap?

To cut or not to cut?

I think I'm crazy and voted for chop-chop! The strap has always been one thing I dislike about the nano speedy. I just think it'll be so cute on with the reverse mono strap from the PM, or the strap from the MPA.

However, my only concern of cutting the strap is how that'll affect the future repairs. Would they decline to repair the nano if you found a defect or something went wrong with the parts?

If you want to cut the strap, then I'd say it'd be better if you just unpick the stitching on the strap that holds it to the bag instead (you can buy a cheap seam ripper from Walmart/Joanns for this purpose). That way at least the leather strap is still fully intact and you could always get someone to reattach it down the line (or you could reuse that strap and attach clips to the end).

But to differ from everyone else's answer, I'd probably remove the strap lol.

Hey every one!

After a couple of weeks of stalking, I finally managed to get the Nano Speedy :yahoo:

And I bet you’ve heard a lot of people complain about the strap not being removable.
Welllllll.......
I’m one of those people as well and I have a vachetta strap from my croisette.
I’m seriously thinking about cutting the original strap and wearing it with the croisette’s strap.
I have a few photos for you guys to see.
The length difference is minimal.

Has anyone ever done this?
Should I do it and “customise” my nano speedy?

PS: also cutting the original strap would open up new options to combine it with a Pochette Metis strap or any other strap you have. The possibilities y’all!!!!
I would not cut it.
But I would have the stitches undone and take the strap out.
That way, you can or have a cobbler sew it back if you want to later on.

I voted to cut it. If it makes you happy, go for it! That said, I buy and sell often, so I personally wouldn't b/c I tend to sell my items. I only have ONE bag from when I first started buying LV about 10 years ago and it's b/c I didn't have any sense to take care of it and it's too dirty on the inside to sell.

Definitely remove the strap. No point having a beautiful bag and not being able to enjoy using it. I altered the length of the chain strap on my Go-14 by cutting off about 8” of chain. As others have said, undo the stitching and that way it can be repaired later. Good luck.
Also, check out the “Hacks Thread”, someone else may have already done it.

I agree exactly

Hard decision :oh:
If it‘s a forever bag- do it!
If you potentially want to sell it because the mini bag trend might end and for now the strap length works for you.... don‘t!!

I personally wouldn’t bc I just never know...I’ve actually been holding out, hoping that they change it to a removable strap. A girl could dream [emoji173]️

NO don’t do it - I cut the strap off my delightful pm a few years ago to use a different strap on it and ended up taking the purse back to the store to have another want out back on (and that was embarrassing) - I feel your pain on the not liking the strap it comes with but I learned the hard expensive way what not to do

Wow! Thanks to everyone responding.

i honestly thought ppl would agree on getting rid of the strap.
Guess I was wrong. Majority says to leave it as is. Gaaaah... I’m torn.

But also I want to apologise and add some more info:
1. Of course I would UNDO THE STITCHING!!!
Not cut through the actual leather!!! I might be a wee bit crazy but not thoroughly insane to cut that poor vachetta. Just the thought of it pains me :’( Hehe..
2. I DO NOT PLAN ON RESELLING this bag.
It’s been quite a hunt and I love this mini bag and I wanna keep it forever and hand it down the line. I mean it’s a classic. Just in miniature form. Even if the mini bag trend goes.. I think it would look cute as heck on kids (even if it’s a bit too much).
3. I combined it with the PM mono strap and...
I WISH I had the Multi Pochette rose clair strap.. But that’s another story/hunt tbc...
4. I would want a detachable strap for the sake of being able to combine it with other straps (the length is fine) and also have it hand held, or better say: no strap dangling when I want to carry the Nano Speedy as an accessory bag inside other bags with me.
Hope that clears up a few questions and comments.

I am honestly surprised. Since I felt like everyone wants this bag with a detachable strap. But then again everyone is like “Yes, buuuut...”

once again:
THANK YOU ALL.

I have to think about it a little more. I will definitely let you know what happened to the strap! ;)

I think you need to ask yourself if removing the strap will make you enjoy the bag more - if your answer is yes then it's probably worth removing it.
I personally really dislike the length of the strap (I'm a shorty so it's way too long), but I wouldn't dare remove it. I'm not brave enough to alter any of my bags since I fear I would regret it a lot if I actually did
Would I prefer another strap? Yes.
Would I remove the strap? No.
