The next day, I was ready for a break from shopping and went on a food tour by Paris by Mouth in the Latin Quarter. Do you want to revisit the places we stopped? If not, then skip to the next post for more retail therapy. But I think we could all take a break from shopping at this point right? Ok, get your flaneur or flaneuse shoes on...

That morning, PbP wasn't feeling well and decided to sleep in and get some much needed rest. I was feeling pretty good so I decided to go on the tour alone and join the food tour group.

The cab dropped me off on the Rue Mouffetarde. It's actually a street in the Latin Quarter that is for pedestrians only and has lots of food shops on both sides. As I was walking down the street to get to the meeting spot for the tour, I saw rows and rows of food shops and beautiful display cases.

The first stop was the shop of the patissier Carl Marletti. As soon as we walked up to the window, I could tell this guy was a big deal. His little cakes and tarts were so cute and the sweet smells coming out of the shop were incredible. If you're interested in checking out his website, here it is http://www.carlmarletti.com/boutique?l=fr
Our guide picked up a lemon tart (voted the best in Paris), a pistachio eclair, and a chocolate cake. But look at these desserts! Do you see the ones called Religieuse? They are supposed to look like little nuns. LOL!

Then we went to eat macarons at Gregory Renard's and our guide told us these in her opinion were better than Laduree. Well, my ears perked up when I heard this! I sampled a salted caramel and a rose and grapefruit flavored one. I'm sorry but I think I was too excited and forgot to take pictures here. On a later date, I actually went back and purchased a few more. OK, in my opinion, the salted caramel ones were too wet and dense for my taste. But the rose and grapefruit one was divine. And yes I would agree, they are probably better than Laduree's overall. Please don't throw rotten food at me for saying that!

Then we went to Androuet http://androuet.com/The House of Androuet today-3-histoire.html and it was hands down, the cutest cheese shop I have ever been too. As soon as you walked in, the delicious smell of cheese hit you as well as the pretty displays. I couldn't stop myself from taking photos. So here they are for you all to enjoy! Our tour guide bought some various cheeses from here and off we went to our next stop.!

A chocolate shop! Mococha. http://www.chocolatsmococha.com Our tour guide was telling us something about the MOF designation given to only certain chocolatiers in France and that it was very difficult to earn this but I was only half listening because I was busy reading all the little flavor labels in front of each chocolate! Here's a little article about it and how in 2015, the judges wouldn't award it to anyone. It's that tough. http://www.sogoodmagazine.com/pastry-blog/pastry-competition/mof-chocolatier-2015-not-awarded/
So this shop is owned by a woman that is able to source chocolates from existing MOF chocolate winners. Apparently no other shop in paris has the selection she has. Unfortunately, we were running late and I didn't have time to buy a box to take home. :shucks:

Then our tour guide stopped to buy some mousse and rilette and a baguette before she took us to our final spot to feast on the cheese, meat spreads, and baguettes she had collected along the way. We ended up in the most charming wine shop http://vinetwhisky-claudel.com and drank wine, shared the food our tour guide had collected, and chatted with everyone for a very pleasant afternoon.

Oh the whole tour was just heaven and I would highly recommend it if you are in Paris!

Oh my!!! I'm drooling here just reading thru your post on the food tour [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16][emoji16][emoji39][emoji39][emoji39][emoji39][emoji39][emoji39]

No no dear! I saw your Zambeze on you and it's a perfect choice for you. Maybe you can get the navy and white flamingo party at a later date. Also, I love my bee necklace so I had to have it. And funny enough, I just got the new Hermes catalog in the mail and opened it up to a random page and saw this!
I think the universe is telling me I made the right decision for me! Lol.

Thanks MYH, I'm glad you like my Zambeze! I love the photo...I believe your FP was meant to bee!!

I think I have time for one more post today. Hope you all are enjoying the trip!

Now we're moving onto clothes. PbP had mentioned to me that she wanted to stop at a cashmere shop called Eric Bompard. I had heard about this shop before but didn't have any pieces from there. So I was excited to check it out and plus I love cashmere. Who doesn't?

OK, this place is cashmere heaven. They have heavy weight, light weight, tissue weight and all colors of the rainbow. You name it, they have it! Like shopping nerds we are, we had already checked out the website the night before and taken screen shots of the things we wanted to try on. So we showed them to the sales associates and in a jiffy, they were whisked off the shelves and into our dressing rooms.

I tried on a bunch of things but the one item I fell in love with was a short sleeve v-neck tissue weight cashmere sweater. I don't know if any of you do this but when I find something I really like, I buy it in multiple colors. In fact, I came home and even entertained buying some more off their website. In the first Eric Bompard store we went to, I picked up two sweaters. Then I told PbP I wanted to go to another store so I could find more colors in my size. So in the end, I found four sweaters in colors that I liked. Grey, violet, royal blue, and iris. These are the colors I always gravitate towards and it makes getting dressed pretty easy. I always have scarves and pants and shoes to match the green/blue/purple/navy/gray/black spectrum of the rainbow.

So as soon as I got home, I could not wait to play in my scarf drawer to see what scarves matched my new sweaters. Sorry for the lumpy sweater photos but it was just too much work to make sure they were all smooth.

Everything about your Paris trip with PbP has me salivating—and I'm taking notes for when I arrive next week—but *Eric Bompard*!! I love this label. Love it. Each piece I have is the perfect example of whatever is it, from thick fisherman cardigan to perfect black little cardigan to delicate cashmere shrug... You will love these sweaters to bits!

Yes, of course. Some of the fits are super fitted and a bit short. They do not work at all for me even if I size up. I think they look a bit old fashioned and unless you are a size 2-4 they are difficult to carry off. They tend to be labeled classic fit.

My go to pieces are the extra fine knits which tend to be fitted enough but not skin tight. I do size up. I'm usually a 6/small/40. I go for mediums in EB. Read the descriptions carefully to make sure they aren't super fitted or pm me. I have tried them all.

They ship to the US 14 euros flat rate shipping. Twice per year they have 30% off sales. But popular styles and colors to sell out prior to the sales so if you love it don't wait.

I size up even more than you—and encourage anyone experimenting with the label to think about how they like to wear sweaters. I'm a 0-2/xs/36 and I often buy L or XL in EB sweaters. Only if I want something very fitted (like a little cardigan) do I do either S or M. I, however, like classic shapes to fit a bit louche on me...

I can certainly see that. The sizes run so small. I'm glad you love their pieces too. Their quality and price are well aligned and they hold up well over time.

I was thinking of you at the mothership. I bought a few silver pieces and we tried the new line of silver jewelry. It's simply stunning.

I do hope you will update us on your time in Paris. I'm so jealous.. MyH could tell that it's simply where I was meant to be. Maybe someday.

Oh, OH! Silver!!!! It's such a good price there—my SA today encouraged me to see the things there for that reason. What did you get? My collection has seen such a growth spurt this spring, but I would love a few more rings, maybe another cuff... But the scarves! I would like to see a broader range than I have so far.

PS: I'm so happy you found a lovely Evelyne. I'm trying to find where you showed your acquisitions, but I must be hitting the threads too randomly. I'm so glad I caught up on this thread—your and MYH's Paris adventure is so inspiring!

I will be posting updates of my months in Paris (at the signature link). I can't wait. Three more days! The prep for the trip has been utterly exhausting. But all the silks and silver and bags and pastries to look forward to. I'll also be debuting my newest leather treasure (acquired a few days ago)... :groucho: Oh—and newest scarf. I finally found a silk from the current season...

But no reveal can be more inspiring or in depth as MYH's in this thread! It's glorious.

Your comment was so cute I chuckled out loud when I read it. Yes, your Zambeze looks fab on you. It's a keeper.

Hi arabesques - thanks for stopping in and reading this thread. Your comment about EB sweaters is making me want to order more right now! Yes, I have been wearing my v-neck ones to death ever since I got back to LA.

Thanks PbP for introducing me to Eric Bompard. You have elevated my wardrobe darling. And yes, you fit right in with the locals around Paris. I think you should do what Arabesques is doing - rent a place there for a couple of months.

Arabesques - I tried on the new ever chain d'ancre necklace that's a big infinity loop. It took a lot of restraint on my part not to buy it. They also have a y-shape necklace in this line, and a bracelet, and a ring I think. I dared not try it all on in Paris for fear that I would not be able to resist buying the whole collection. I loved the modern streamlined look of all the pieces. I believe you already have the earrings right? You must get a necklace or the bracelet to match. Maybe even the ring!

I was so flattered when I read your words. I love reading your blog and your posts because they are so inspiring to me! I'm sure you've already been told by many people but you write so beautifully and take the best photos.
Please tell us what scarf you found from this season? I'm really curious. Your idea to go to Paris for a couple of months is genius. PbP and I hope to follow in your footsteps.

Omg if you size up to L or xL there is no way this brand is going to work for me. I will have to stop in one day though, perhaps the ponchos will suit lol:lolots:

Lanit - it will work. I sized up to XL and it was fine. I'm typically a L. And from your photos, you look very petite. Please do check out EB. I do think you will find something you like.

And just as a fyi - I see they do have XXL on their website too.

Geez- I'm feeling like we are gigantic compared to french women. :lolots:

That is reassuring! After reading arabesques sizing, I was about to give up!

Well I just checked my Bompard sweaters. It must have to do with the style as someone mentioned earlier. I'm generally a 4/6 Small (40 Italy, 36 France) in tops/jackets/sweaters, and my Bompard mediums are large on me. One is enormous, so style matters.

So I think we have now thoroughly confused everybody! :lolots:

I wish EB would open up stores or distribute in the U.S. I think you really need to try each one on and see what works for you.

I am a 44 Italy/40 France and the medium is just right for me.

I don't even know how I found out about this brand. I think I must read WAYYY too many fashion blogs.
