Scarves MYH's Scarf Showcase - and philosophical ramblings about how I built my collection

So inspired by this thread I have scoured every scarf on h.com (where was I in 2014 so many nice ones) and purchased four scarves (my first moussie and Csgm Marwari, ciel de la mer and Faceties de Pegase in 90cm) all inspired by the stories here. Also waiting for the perfect B&W scarf and 140cm silk and reactivated my eBay account to look for HGs. It's funny because my purchases actually triggered a fraud alert on my credit card and I was nervous that h.com would run out of the ones I ordered before I could sort it out. Now can't wait to see them irl. Thank you for enabling.

PbP - I have made several mistakes. At some point, I will discuss the grail I hunted down like a crazy woman, only to discover, it looked ick on me. The most disappointing moment of my H scarf life. That one had to be re-homed too. With scarves, I let myself make mistakes because really, the monetary loss is minimal. But with bags, yikes! I think long and hard about them before I pull out my wallet. The loss on those (due to fees when reselling) makes my heart ache.

MYH: We've not heard this story yet have we? I've read the entire thread as it goes, but can't recall it. Want to make sure I didn't miss it!

Oh my. I know the feeling. Deep yoga breaths. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

This is exciting! So much anticipation! I hope you'll share when they arrive.

OK, I'm back today with another sought after scarf. As long as I am driving some of you crazy with grails, I figured I would continue. :graucho::graucho::graucho:

Two scarves back, I talked about having a 90cm B&W cw in your collex. It's a workhorse and will always fill a hole in your collex. So now I think I better run and hide, but I'm here to tell you, you need a neutral one or two (may not exactly need to be B&W) in a 70cm too.

A 70cm is totally different than a 90cm and its great to have some in this smaller size. If I'm starting a whole new scarf format addiction for you, please don't throw rotten eggs at me! :peace: Now, I have a much smaller 70cm collex than I do in the 90cms, but there are some days, I just don't want to wear a scarf that feels so formal and has so much volume.

These are the situations I like to use a 70cm:
1) With a casual T-shirt - I find this size more casual because of its smaller size and lighter silk weight
2) On hot days- much cooler around the neck than 90cms
3) Out to dinner when you don't want so much scarf puffing out
4) Tucked into a V-neck shirt or Sweater - this works so much better than a 90cm because it's not so big and doesn't give you a crumpled looking chest

Also, this size is much better for petite gals. I feel it's more proportional to their frame. My little sis is tiny and she likes the 70cms too. I'm sure there are more reasons to love this size, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head for now.

So, I have several "neutrals" in 70cms. I have the brown/black/white cw of Circus and also the J'aime mon Carre in the brown/black/gray cw. I love these scarves. They are workhorses. But today, I'm going to talk about C'est La Fete. I have the prunoir cw and it really is the scarf that matches virtually all of my outfits. The main colors in my wardrobe are black, navy, dark purple and gray. I know, it' boring but it works for me. So this scarf is my perfect neutral.

There's not really a "story" to acquiring this one. All I remember was when I started becoming obsessed with scarves, this design kept popping up on various threads. I took a look at it and thought, yeah, it's pretty cool. I like really non-traditional H designs. Ones that are more modern and younger feeling. So this one did appeal to me. The skeleton guy is a little scary but he gets lost in the folds so it's ok. And since I started collecting seasonal scarves, hey, why not get a halloween one? I knew they were hard to find and if I wanted one, I would need to pay a pretty penny for it. I think I paid hmmm...$50 over retail for it? I can't really remember. Not so much that it still stings so that's good. I think I nabbed it when it was just a grail, not a Holy Grail.

So my all time favorite way to wear a 70cm is a side cowboy knot with a farandole hanging over it to keep it in place. And with this scarf, a farandole looks awesome because of all the silver chains and link details.

So here are some pics of this scarf. I'm dog sitting at the moment and tried to get Chester, a little frenchie, to model but he was not cooperating! And I got my CSGM delivered just now...I'll be back later today with it.

Thanks for the 70cm love MYH, I agree it doesn't get nearly the attention that it should, next to CGSMs it's my fave size/format!

In addition to the virtues you extol, I also feel it's the best size for tying around bag handles (even better than the twilly or pocket squares!) and it's also my fave size for tying chou-chou knots. Thanks again for the 70cm shout out and I also wanted to say that I love your thread [emoji8][emoji8][emoji8]

Ohhhhh MYH! C'est is my #1 HG. And, you own my favorite CW:graucho: I hope I will be your twin someday. I only own one of the other CW's. But, quite frankly I would love to own everyone of the regular CW's. I'm not a huge fan of the DD in this design. I love it worn in the sideway cowboy with your necklace, perfection!
And I have 4 and love them too. They're a great size for us taller ladies too!

I find there's definitely much less need to fuss with them than the 90s, and come to think of it, all 4 of mine are rather informal designs too. 🤔

No neutrals in 70 yet though. In fact, far from it! You'll see one of mine during Orange Week!

PS: your Fête is marvelous.
I agree that they are great for us taller women, too! Unfortunately, I only own 2 so far...I need many more:roflmfao: I would love to see more pics of everyone in their 70's.;)
OK, I swore off CSGMs after I moved to a sunny year-round climate. I wasn't going to do anything as rash as re-home the 4 I already have, but I figured I shouldn't add anymore. Plus they are sooooo expensive and do get pulls easily so I figured a CSGM starvation diet would be good for my bank account too. Well, that didn't really work because I just started to buy mousselines instead of CSGMs. But that's another story.

So remember how I said in the my previous post I basically just have black, navy, dark purple and gray in my wardrobe? Well, this CSGM fit the bill. It's so great because it also has brown in it. A scarf that goes with black, brown, navy, and dark purple? Ahhh perfection. So after agonizing over it for months, I decided to just bite the bullet and buy it. I really hope it gets cooler in LA soon. Also, I know some really elegant ladies with this shawl and cw so felt like I couldn't go wrong if I bought it. And it matches my colvert picotin. Thank goodness I was home and able to sign for it today. Here she is Cavalleria d'Etriers.

I had a feeling you nabbed this beauty MYH! It is heavenly....Congratulations! If, I wasn't banned I would have arm wrestled you for it:roflmfao: The colors are just amazing.... If, it never gets cool enough in LA. Send it to visit Aunt GG8 It is always cold enough in Chicago:roflmfao:

+1. Would love to see photos.

In addition to pics of 70's on bags I've also included one with my H Comme Hermes 70 worn in a simple knot around my neck. Love the contrast hem on this one!!! Thanks to dear Jyyanks, Momasaurus and Hermes Nuttynut for helping me pick it out at a meetup last year, it was chosen specifically to wear on bags. I tried the pocket square too but it just didn't look right, the proportion was off. Everyone agreed that 70 was the clear winner for this task!

I will try to post some 70cm Chou Chou's tomorrow, I have just returned home from a trip and am in dire need of some [emoji42][emoji99] (but have my priorities straight of course and had to check tPF first! LOL)
