Daaaaarrrrrrllliiiiingg!!!!!!!! Its stunning !!!!!! beyond beautiful enjoy it in the best of health I suggest you wrap the tiny feet in kitchen plastic wrap !!!! Very carefully and discretely because it does help keep it open at all times darling its just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! So enjoy it and for a first birkin this is just stunning!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your message and advice ! I'm ver y afraid to use it because i know both box and black hardware are so fragile ! And i have a 6 years old and a 3 months old so i wait for them to Go to bed to get my beauty out of the box and admire her before i Go to bed. Ridiculous isn't IT ?

Next week i finish my maternity leave so i'll get back to work. I will then maybe have the courage to take her ...

Congratulations on your beautiful bag. I have heard the Box of the SO Black is more fragile than previous box leather. My SA said that if the black hardware scratches it will appear as silver i.e the layer underneath the coating will show, and Hermes will not be able to replace it.

Now that some tPFers had had theirs for over a year, I would love to know how they are getting on with the leather and hardware, and how often they are using their bags.

I have had no problem so far. The leather seems to be just like all other Hermès Box leathers that I have, and the hardware is in pristine condition, but this is just me, and I would love to hear from other members if they have had problems.

Thank you so much for sharing your expérience ! do you have a birkin or a Kelly ? How often do you use it and do you close it or let it mostly open ?

I have a Birkin, which I don't close, and that I use quite often.
I also have a Kelly Cut, which I obviously close, and use a bit more sporadically, but as of now no problem at all.
Watch out for the rain though, this is not good for box leather, the risk is that you get blisters.

Ok i guess all i have to do know is get her out of the box, fill her with my daily essentials and take her for a ride !

Congrats Folledesac!! What a Birkin this is to start with!!

We are bag twins and I too am very afraid to use mine, as the few times I have taken her out I've managed to leave scratches on the leather (although they are probably imperceptible to most eyes). However, Birkins are best USED!! So I will eventually have to break her in so she can be truly loved the way she was meant to be loved...heehee.

M'y husband made yesterday a fun comparison to encourage me : " it's like a guitar : the First scratch you are ready to kill someone and then you realize it's what making it special and unique and even change the sound of the music you're playing"

Do i need to precise he is collecting guitars ?

So you and i just need to start playing music with our Birkins :-)

I agree with your husband. I always say, "the first scratch feels like the deepest". It's almost a relief once you have made the first fingernail scratch because then you stop worrying and start enjoying!
