Tank you lala28, lulilu and Flower71 !

@ lala28: i visited your garden In another thread and I have to say that you have an impressive collection ! What i admire really is that despite the fact you have a huge collection, you still sound excited with each New item and looks like you are having a lot of fun pairing them together.

Keep on having fun and entertaining us !

M'y husband made yesterday a fun comparison to encourage me : " it's like a guitar : the First scratch you are ready to kill someone and then you realize it's what making it special and unique and even change the sound of the music you're playing"

Do i need to precise he is collecting guitars ?

So you and i just need to start playing music with our Birkins :-)

First scratch? Didi you say first scratch? oh no, I HATE that! :p
I can handle the second, the third and all the others, but the first one always makes me sick!:woot:

I'm finding the new box on my SO Black is not holding up as well as the box on my older bags. Even though I'm super careful, it has already got a couple of scratches on it. I'm even more paranoid about the hardware as the hardware on my SO Black KDT has scratched and now shows silver through. But hey ho these bags are too expensive too leave in a cupboard, so I'll have to just be brave LOL

I just got a 30 SO Black Birkin and am over the moon but want to avoid any natural or accidental disasters, does anyone have any advice from their own experience on what to avoid like rain, snow, scratches (does the metal get easily scratched and look bad?.....please share and thanks (I finally found this informative thread after searching....for a few days)

Darling check out an old thread I started called stealth or black on blck birkin I think the later newer pages will help you !!!.

Also my sister has the bag it's stunning but I do suggest you keep the straps fully open nt on the strap holder with kitchen plastic wrap make the little feet a protective cover if you can and I personally would leave the bag open and batwinged at all times.

Hermes will not service the HW my sister scratched one of the 4 little feet she as a personal thing she retouched the scratch with a sharpie permanenet marker and all is well but naturally this is not an option for these bags. I mean i would not have done it on bag of my own but she was hysterical !!!! So it worked now the bag always leaves home with little plastic covers but...... Up to you .And I personally would also observe the box leather since the beauty of this bag is the extreme sheen and perfection of the leather as it does scratch and is marked easily !!!!! Hope it helps doll birkel.

Oh dear... what's the difference you are experiencing? I have a newer box but not an old one to compare with.

Wonder if H would replace the HW with Ruthenium HW when its all scratched up? Any thoughts?

Hiii! I am wondering how your Black on Black birkin Box leather is holding up? It's on one of my first so I want to be sure it lasts well and you are happy and no buyers remorse. Please be honest. Also is this back pretty limited?? I want to know how you feel and the reactions you get with this bag. I always loved the black on gold but I feel this might be more unique. THanks SO much!!!

Black box leather holds up quite beautifully IMHO. The black hardware is a first time thing for Hermes and I know others here have expressed concerns about whether the black finish will ultimately peel off. I haven't seen this in real life. Because the SO Black is a limited edition and hit stores about two years ago, only time will tell how well the black hardware withstands the test of time.

Black box leather is a classic and if you look at vintage H bags, you will notice that the majority of them that are still in beautiful condition today, are black box leather.

Happy belated New Year, Black Beauties!

I haven't posted much on tPF the last few months, but do want to let everyone know about my SO Black Kelly 35. I've been wearing her constantly, and recently repeated the Docride treatment. I've had no problems with rain and snow.

The hardware? Well... um... yes, a few scratches on the feet and on the lock. But am I bothered? Not really. A few years down the road I'll send her to spa and could always replace the hardware with ruthenium - if H is not offering black by then!
