JMHO but I think the slightly darker edges are the beginning of a patina, which will happen over time with vachetta. I have a vachetta Ergo that I do not carry nearly often enough because I'm nervous about color transfer. My Ergo is darker than your Willis, and she came to me that way. I'd say she's about the color of your Willis in the sunshine pics, maybe a bit darker. I love that she will patina over time!
I might have to try BonBonz's suggestion and test a bit of Rain Guarde on the bottom of my Ergo. I was worried that the spray itself might darken the vachetta, but that's what spot tests are for
