i have a question and hoping someone can give me some input. i bought a cdc bracelet in the US six months ago and found a major defect on the hardware. i live in asia, and as soon as i found the defect (it was about 3 weeks after the purchase) i took it to the nearest local hermes boutique whom took in my bracelet with apology and told me that it will be sent back to paris for further advice. i got a reply today from hermes saying that i can have a store credit good for a year at the local boutique. what i want is a cash refund if this cdc was not repairable, and it was a defect and the return was not my "change of heart".
not sure how any tpfer can help here unless they are well versed in the local laws of your country. it is quite a complicated situation as it involves overseas purchase returned to another country. i think you need local legal advice on consumer rights that apply in your situation.
hi chincac, thank you for your response. i am not looking into legal action, just curious on hermes refund policy. i am aware of hermes return policy but i wonder if they have a refund policy in case of defect. you are right about the overseas transaction and it could make the situation more complicated, but i am also curious to know if overseas hermes boutiques would carry out head quarter policy meaning that is it paris who makes the final decision??

Thank you, Mistikat, sorry for derailing.Yup - back to topic would be appreciated.
There are threads about returns in various countries, so perhaps those could be of assistance?

I'm relatively new on this forum, but I've been following and reading all of your posts for quite some time now - and I want to put my two cents in, and share my recent experience with the brand.
Lat month I bought a bag from H.com and started to wear it immediately. After 4 days of using the bag, the seam on the left hand side of the edge of the bag, (which usually is sealed by resin) started to peel off and was split in two. The front panel and the facing panel of the bag were visibly divided on a certain spot! I took the bag back to the store, were it got fixed. Deluded the problem was fixed, I started to use the bag again and after 2 days of being fixed the problem reappeared. I then brought the bag back again to the store, they couldn't offer me a replacement bag because apparently that model in that colour and leather combination is out of production for this and the coming season, they didn't want to give me any sort of refund because they wanted to send the bag, back for quality control inspection and it would've taken them 1,5 to 2 months time span to check and get back to me. Luckily enough, I met a nice SA who introduced me to the Manager and she understood the situation and they offered me a store credit.
Nonetheless, I still love the brand but it appears to me that over the time and the increasing amount of costumers, that they might have lost some bits of quality of the years...
Another one bites the dust! I would have demanded a full refund and felt justifiably angry. My opinion of H is changing unfortunately with regards to some of their product categories. I still love their enamel jewelry, 90cm and XL silk scarves and belts but am more hesitant with their bags and GMs. Until I feel comfortable that their quality is back up to previous superior standards, I am looking in to other French luxury brands like Moynat and Delvaux. Maybe a little more under the radar, but superb craftsmanship, which is what I desire. If I buy an H bag to add to my collection, it will be vintage.
Here is another reason for Hermes making me change my opinion about the brand....
DEFECT....
That's a new word in the World of Hermes....and I don't really like it.![]()
