is the city a lot heavier with the giant hardware? as in is it still comfortable to carry around when you're on the go the whole day?

I think it is still comfortable, although I never had a RH bag so I have nothing to compare it to. I can tell you it is lighter than my LV Manhattan PM and unlike the Manhattan you can put the City on your shoulders if it is feeling heavy. The handles even fit over my jacket, or I can wear the large strap. If you are used to the lightness of an RH though I have heard it is heavier. I think you would like it.
