Background Information

I visited Seoul, South Korea in early November 2016. I was accompanied by my wonderful partner (who acted as my caretaker and entertainer). We stayed in Gangnam for three weeks with the intent that both my partner and I would complete consultations and surgeries during this period. I planned on undergoing primary rhinoplasty and breast augmentation surgeries. My partner planned for laser eye surgery.

Prior to the trip, I had booked consultations with six clinics: PS101, April31, Migo, Cosharp, Homme and Femme, and Park Jinseok Aesthetic Clinic. The first five were for rhinoplasty and the last clinic for breast augmentation. These clinics were shortlisted based on six months of research on TPF, reading medical journals, and were highly recommended to me by past patients or surgeons. Additionally, the surgeons selected specifically had to be board-certified, part of plastic surgery forums, had a history of published academic papers in their fields, and religiously attended medical conferences. Finally, I had conversed with the surgeons/clinics through email, Kakao, or both and received prompt responses back. This played a huge part because I believe the amount of time a surgeon/clinic spends with you pre-surgery is determinate of their surgery and post-op care. Even if a clinic was highly revered, if they did not respond promptly, I crossed them off my list.

I’ll elaborate on my consultations and surgical experiences below. I will not disclose the price quotes as every individual’s proposed methodology is different, therefore price quotes will be different. I can give you an idea of price range from highest to lowest for the rhinoplasty clinics:

April31 > Migo > Homme and Femme > PS101 > Cosharp.

April31 was significantly higher than the other 4 clinics.

Consultations - Day 1

April 31 – Dr. Kim

Clinic was in the Non-hyeon area and was easy to locate due to a sign on the building. Inside, the clinic gave off a professional and serious vibe. It was around 11am, and I did not see anyone else in the waiting area. We were greeted by the receptionists and within minutes of arriving, we met with the English translator Brian.

Brian brought us into the consultation room and provided a background of the clinic and surgeon. He was a friendly and talkative person, who tried his best to answer all your questions without a sense that you were being rushed for time. Afterwards, I was asked to pay the associated fee for the CT scan – it was a little hefty but I was informed of this prior to my consult and it’s apparently due to the clinic having the most advanced CT scan on the market. I was then brought into another room to complete the CT scan, which was to be used by the surgeon, Dr. Kim, as part of the consult.

Next, Brian led us to Dr. Kim’s office for the consultation. Dr. Kim conducted the consult in English, and Brian was available to help translate if needed. Dr. Kim explained his proposed methodology and recommendations by referencing the CT scan results. He then opened up the floor for questions. Since this was my first consult, I had prepared many questions and started diving in. Perhaps, due to my inexperience, I ended up asking questions that would have been more appropriate for Brian. As such, Dr. Kim, after each question, would tell me that the questions seemed like he was being interviewed and pushed for different questions more specific to his proposed methodology. After 4-5 times of this, I gave up and decided to thank him for his time, and finish off my questions with Brian.

We moved back into the consultation room and I proceeded to ask Brian the many questions I had prepared, and he diligently answered them all. We then moved onto preliminary price quotes and finished off the consult. Total consultation was about 2 hours. This clinic was the priciest of all my consults.

Homme and Femme – Dr. Hwang

My partner and I had a very difficult time locating this clinic. The address on the map was different from the actual address of the clinic because the clinic had moved. We had to find local help to locate the real address, which was a pain. The first place we visited was a pharmacy, which refused to help us (rather than tell us no, they just made us wait so we left). The second place was a bank, where only one person spoke English and could help us call the clinic to reveal the new address. They even walked us to the building where the clinic was located and we were very thankful for their help.

We arrived at the clinic a little late and more than a little flustered (which was probably a sign looking back to just skip this clinic altogether). The clinic had a simple and clean vibe. It was around 2:30pm, and I saw one patient (with her cast on) and her partner in the waiting area. We were greeted by the receptionists but no one besides the surgeon, Dr. Hwang, spoke English. There was a minor wait prior to my consultation, probably about 15 minutes.

The consultation with Dr. Hwang left more to be desired, mostly due to feeling of the surgeon prioritizing money over the patient, and also the language barrier. I had chatted with the surgeon through email prior to my trip, and there was never a mention of a consultation fee. When I arrived, immediately the surgeon dropped a bomb on me by telling me there was going to be a consultation fee (it was hefty considering there was no accompanying CT scan). That put a bad taste in my mouth but considering how much effort it took to even find and visit the clinic, I didn’t want to just leave because of a fee. Also, I knew this was a 100% local clinic and the doctor was known for rhinoplasty revisions so I decided to pay and continue with the consult.

Moving onto the actual consultation, although Dr. Hwang spoke English, it wasn’t at the level that you would have liked for a surgical consultation. Additionally, at the end of each recommendation, he would end off with “understand?” which would get a bit bothersome after the 50th time. He tried his best to explain his proposed methodology and I was able to understand 100% of what he recommended, but I did not feel 100% comfortable in his capabilities. He was thorough in terms of manipulating my nose, showing me past patient results and academic presentations while explaining the different proposed methodologies, but he gave off a sense of uncertainty that I did not like in a surgeon. At the end of the consult, we moved onto price quotes, whereby he charged for each procedure of the rhinoplasty operation separately. For example, individual charges for dorsal augmentation and tipplasty, alar base reduction, and even using ear cartilage! If I didn’t feel like he was all about money before, I definitely felt like an ATM machine at that moment in time. I quickly finished off the consult and left. This clinic was crossed off my list.

Park Jinseok Aesthetic Clinic – Dr. Park

I arrived at the clinic with no hiccups. It was located in the main Apgujeong area where the bulk of plastic surgery clinics are. The clinic gave off a cozy, comfortable vibe. It was around 5pm, and I cannot remember if there was anyone in the waiting area since it was so late and I was exhausted from the previous consults. There was uplifting music playing in the background.

Upon my arrival, nurses quickly greeted and attended to me. They asked me some questions while filling out a form and brought me in immediately to do a Vectra breast scan, physical measurements, and have pictures taken. Afterwards, I met with Dr. Park for the consultation.

During the consultation, Dr. Park examined my breasts, reviewed the scans and pictures, and explained his proposed methodology and recommendations. We spent a lot of time conversing, and he even insisted on recording the consultation on his phone for my personal records. He answered all of our questions and the total consultation lasted over two hours! It was one of the most detailed, thorough and satisfying consultations I’ve had with a surgeon thus far.

Now, you might have noticed that I only consulted with one clinic for breast augmentation. The reason behind this decision was that I had conversed with Dr. Park for a period of three months prior to my trip, and his 24/7 responsiveness and thoroughness in answering my specific questions had solidified my decision to have him as my breast surgeon. Some stats I’ll include because they were part of my pre-op questions – he performs about 300-400 operations in a year, has worked with his anesthesiologist for over 20 years with no accidents, and in the last five years, he experienced only two cases of infection. I had also chatted with two other individuals on Kakao that underwent breast augmentation surgery with him who wholeheartedly recommended him as a surgeon. With these points in mind, I only needed to have the face-to-face consultation to confirm or negate what I felt to make the final decision. If the face-to-face did not go well, I planned to postpone my breast augmentation surgery for a future trip.

Given that the consultation was a huge success, and Dr. Park made me feel 110% comfortable in his capabilities, I decided to schedule my breast augmentation surgery with this clinic.

Consultations – Day 2

Cosharp – Dr. Lee

This clinic was actually recommended to me by Dr. Park. Since Dr. Park was a breast surgeon, I thought asking his opinion on rhinoplasty surgeons would not be a conflict of interest. I could not find any information on this clinic during my research so they are 100% local.

Clinic was easy to locate as it was in the Apgujeong area. It is owned and operated by one surgeon, Dr. Lee. It had a very clean, bright, and modern vibe. It was around 1pm, and I saw one other person in the waiting area. Top 40 English hits were playing in the background, and diffusers made the place smell great. I had my pictures taken prior to my consultation with Dr. Lee and waited maybe 5-10 minutes before I was called into his office for the consult.

As we began the consultation, Dr. Lee had the images that were just taken photoshopped and the “post-op results” were shown on a huge monitor. His English was decent and he explained his proposed methodology and recommendations by referencing the images, and also by physically touching and manipulating my nose with cotton swabs. He seemed like an easygoing and friendly surgeon who cared about your opinion. I was able to ask all the questions that I had prepared for him.

After the consult, I met with a consultant who helped with scheduling and asked me when I preferred my surgery date to be. I said I was still consulting other clinics and would let Dr. Lee know through Kakao. There was no pressure at this clinic to commit - all the consultants, and Dr. Lee were friendly and nonchalant. The price quote given was the most reasonable of all the clinics I visited.

Migo – Dr. Kang

This clinic was easy to locate as it was also in the Apgujeong area. As I arrived, all the consultants greeted my partner and I with a bow. The clinic felt professional and formal. It was around 3pm, and I saw one other person in the waiting area. I waited not more than 5 minutes when I met with the translator Niko.

Niko brought us into the consultation room and a moment later, another individual entered the room. Niko introduced her as the main consultant, said she only spoke Korean but would facilitate the consult. The consultant conducted a preliminary questionnaire, while Niko translated. Niko then brought me to complete the CT scan. I knew prior to scheduling the consultation that the CT scan had a minimal associated fee and was happy to pay it.

Next, I was brought back into the consultation room, while we all patiently waited for Dr. Kang to arrive. Prior to his arrival, I was told by Niko that Dr. Kang understands and speaks English fluently, but he prefers to conduct his consultations in Korean. This was definitely a turn off as I expected to speak directly to the surgeon and in turn have him respond back in English.

Dr. Kang finally entered the room, and it felt like he was well-respected by all individuals. At this time, there were two consultants, a translator, the surgeon, and my partner and I. It was definitely getting slightly uncomfortable as the room was very small but I assumed everyone had a reason to be there. Dr. Kang had my CT scan on the monitor and started explaining his proposed methodology as he meticulously touched and manipulated my nose with cotton swabs. He also drew out on the screen his recommendations. My partner and I were impressed with the professionalism and perfectionism shown by this doctor. We only disliked the fact that the entire consultation was conducted in Korean with a translator. He did ask us if there were any questions and we spoke English directly to him whereby he would respond in Korean, or very minimal English. Afterwards, the surgeon left, and the consultants allowed us to ask our more general questions and gave us price quotes. They then asked about scheduling and we said we had one final consult prior to deciding which clinic to go with. We said we would confirm with Niko through Kakao and were off. The consultation was about an hour and the prices were higher than expected but still reasonable. I later learned that the price was higher because they expected my return to bargain down the price. The final price they quoted me was in line with other clinics I visited.

PS101 – Dr. Paik

The consultation and surgery date at this clinic was scheduled four months in advance as I learned from TPF those who consulted at this clinic could not schedule their surgery in the same trip. The doctors here are highly renowned for their work and most of their patients are revision cases that are put on waiting lists. Although I scheduled my surgery date in advance, I was not asked to put down a deposit.

This clinic is located in the Apgujeong-Rodeo area. The area is equivalent to Rodeo Drive, or Yorkville, where the streets are lined with beautiful designer boutiques. Immediately, you get a feeling that the clinic must be doing well to be located in such a wealthy neighbourhood.

Upon arriving, the clinic gave off a cozy and comfortable vibe. Although located in a ritzy neighbourhood, the clinic did not have lavish surroundings, or seem pretentious in any way. It was around 5pm, and I did not see anyone else in the waiting area. We were greeted by the receptionist and asked to fill out a form. The receptionist did not speak English so I presumed that this clinic had mostly local patients.

We waited maybe 5-10 minutes before meeting with the surgeon, Dr. Paik. As he introduced himself and started conversing with us, right away I felt he was a professional, well-mannered and well-spoken individual. His English was excellent and he also had an aura about him where he commands respect amongst his staff and peers.

During the consultation, he explained methodically in both scientific and layman terms what his proposed methodology and recommendations would be. He would also ask me at every turn whether I agreed with each of his analyses, which I thought was considerate and different from any of the rhinoplasty consults I’ve had thus far. He took time to show me many past patient and operation photos to detail all the recommendations. The consultation was straightforward, thorough and educational.

Near the end, he asked me to confirm my scheduled surgery date because if I didn’t, he would need to call other patients on his waitlist. This was my least favourite part of the consult as I didn’t want to feel rushed in making my decision, but at the same time, I understood why afterwards. An admin had come into his office with a massive list of patients while showing the doctor my own scheduled surgery date. In the end, the clinic said I could give them a response by 11am the next day but I would need to physically visit the clinic for final confirmation and prep work. I was okay returning to the clinic the next day as I needed time that night to make my final decision.

Consultations Summary

My partner and I created a model on excel to help finalize my rhinoplasty decision. We rated each of the clinics on various weighted determinants to get to a final score. These were factors that were important to us such as surgeon knowledge, proposed methodology, post-op care, price, etc that we put a weighted percentage on and rated very meticulously. After all the ratings, the model (and also my gut feeling) told me that PS101 and Dr. Paik would be my rhinoplasty clinic and doctor of choice.

In case you didn’t read part of the review, I also decided to go ahead with Dr. Park from Park Jinseok Aesthetic Clinic for my breast augmentation surgery as the consultation was one of the best I have had, and I felt Dr. Park cared deeply about his patients.

Primary Rhinoplasty Surgery

I arrived at the clinic and was asked to complete the final payment. The pricing provided was local pricing and the clinic did not employ consultants, therefore, there was no need to bargain. I was then told that I would be given a tax refund receipt and I could choose whether to receive that now or later - reason being some patients actually lose their receipt! I opted to receive mine at that point in time since I never lose my belongings. I was then escorted to see Dr. Paik once again. He took my before photos, and drew out the exact changes he would make on my printed photographs. He had a steady hand, and kept erasing and re-drawing until it was perfect! Again, he asked if I agreed with his drawings and assessments, which I did, and I was ready for surgery! To give a quick insight to his recommendations, I was advised to undergo open rhinoplasty - dorsal augmentation with a soft silicone implant (4mm which was decided during operation), layered ear cartilage grafts for tip, and tip projection, rotation, and narrowing. Although I thought I needed alar base reduction (along with other surgeons), Dr. Paik did not recommend it and said the ear cartilage grafts were sufficient in narrowing my nostrils. I trusted his judgement and did not proceed with it.

Next, a nurse brought me to another floor to get changed, put away my belongings, and wash my face thoroughly prior to surgery. Then I was brought into the operation room and laid down on the bed. They proceeded with the local sedative/anesthesia injections and made me 100% comfortable. I remember seeing Dr. Paik enter the operation room and was knocked out shortly after.

When I awoke from surgery, I was still laying on the operation bed. I felt no pain, only minor discomfort from anesthesia. Since all their surgeries are scheduled beforehand, I was not rushed out and could take as much time as I needed until I was ready to be moved off the operation bed. A nurse was attending to me in another room and when she checked on me and noticed I was awake, asked me if I was ready to move to a more comfortable bed. I responded “yes”, and she helped me up and into one of the recovery rooms on the same floor. I remember being thirsty, slightly dizzy and tired so I went straight to sleep after sipping some water. When I awoke, the nurse asked me if I was hungry, and again spot on, I responded “yes”. She then brought me some rice porridge and it was the most delicious thing I tasted in a while! That same porridge would be my food of choice during my next few weeks of recovery, but I digress. After eating, the nurse asked if I was able to walk around, and I said “yes”. She asked me if I felt dizzy or tired, and I said “no”. She asked if I was ready to go home, and I said “yes”. I headed home straight away and that was the end of my rhinoplasty surgery experience.

I had check-ups every other day after operation for one week, then 2 more additional check-ups 3 days apart. The nurses would provide antibiotic injections and hair washes. Dr. Paik would personally review my nose at every check-up and let me know the progress. My stitches were removed on the 5th day, and cast was removed on the 7th day. I had no bruising, and swelling was very apparent on the 5th day when they removed my stitches and my partner had taken a picture of my nose (it looked a bit like Shrek!). When my cast was removed on the 7th day, the severe “Shrek-like” swelling had subsided. My new nose looked really amazing, albeit with swelling still intact. The only thing that bothered me, was the swelling on my bridge which drew my eyes too close together and made me look like an elf. I was informed by Dr. Paik that this swelling should subside over time. That in a period of 6 months to one year the final result will become apparent and my nose will be natural and harmonious with my face. He said my surgery results were very successful and I now have a beautiful nose, to which I wholeheartedly agreed.

Dr. Paik is truly a master of rhinoplasty and everyone should at least visit his clinic for a consult if they are considering rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty. Since my operation was such a success, I decided to write a detailed review for PS101 since there weren’t any thorough reviews of them on TPF. At the same time, this clinic gets booked up way in advance so they wouldn’t need me to shower them with praise anyway, they get plenty from other locals.

Other points I want to mention about this clinic – every time I was there for a check-up, the clinic was busy (in a good way) with patients for check-ups, consults, and surgery prep. Additionally, I was able to meet one other foreign patient from Thailand. She had 3 or 4 unsatisfactory rhinoplasty surgeries previously in Thailand and found Dr. Paik through a Korean friend. I was there when she did her final check-up with Dr. Paik and she was very pleased with the results. This just means that even patients with multiple revision rhinoplasty procedures can be satisfied with Dr. Paik’s results.

To give an update on my rhinoplasty condition, I am now 2.5 weeks post-op and the swelling on my bridge has subsided a lot. My nose definitely looks more natural now and fits my face very well – it doesn’t look fake or obvious, just an enhanced version of my old nose. There is just a small red scar from the columella incision which can easily be covered up by foundation or concealer if needed. I actually walk outside without makeup on many occasions and don’t even care about hiding the scar because it really doesn’t look that bad. To my family and friends whom I have shown my pictures to, they all say I have the perfect nose. Considering how easy the surgery and recovery was, I would do it all over again, just earlier if I had the chance!

Breast Augmentation Surgery

I scheduled my breast augmentation surgery three days after my rhinoplasty surgery on the recommendations of both Dr. Paik and Dr. Park. I arrived at the clinic in the morning, after having a check-up with Dr. Paik and getting only the cotton removed from my nose. I made the final payment to the clinic - the pricing provided was local pricing and the clinic does not employ consultants, therefore, there was no need to bargain.

I met with Dr. Park to review the proposed recommendations and to make the final decision on sizing. He reminded me that one side of my chest wall is sunken, and therefore would require a different sized implant and profile. He asked me to finalize the sizing for both sides – I could either go with the more natural (330cc) or fuller (370cc) recommendations. I decided to go fuller as I did not want to regret going too small and really liked the Vectra imagery shown with 370cc – there was slightly more projection. The final decision was Mentor anatomic implants, 370cc one side, 410cc on sunken side, IMF incision (easiest, most predictable recovery), and under the muscle placement. Just want to point out another stat I learned since many people wonder about rotation in anatomic implants - in Dr. Park’s experience and operation on 600 patients and 1200 breasts with anatomic implants, none have rotated. This info was good enough for me to go ahead with choosing anatomic implants for a natural breast line.

I was then moved to a different room to change, take pictures, and then led to the operation room. Here I was laid down on the operation bed, given different injections, and made 100% comfortable. I was told by Dr. Park that for breast augmentation surgery, you need to undergo general anesthesia and the total operation time is around 45 minutes. I was out very shortly after the injections and anesthesia kicked in.

When I woke up, I remember my throat being dry (a side effect of the general anesthesia) and feeling slightly nauseous. Dr. Park does not put a tube down your throat, but instead administers anesthesia through a mask that causes dry mouth for about 24 hours. He supplies plenty of lollipops to help generate saliva post-surgery. I was moved to a recovery room where I slept to shake off the anesthesia. I was also able to drink some water although it did not reduce the dry mouth symptoms. When I awoke, the nurse asked me if I was hungry, which I said “yes”. She then supplied both my partner and I store-bought freshly-made rice porridge! It was really delicious but I couldn’t eat much of it due to my dry mouth and slight nausea. Afterwards, I finished off my antibiotic IV and headed back to my accommodation.

Now the recovery for the next three days was painful! The muscle contractions came hard and fast and I did not expect it. All my friends and even Dr. Park’s past patients exclaimed that there would be minimal pain so I underestimated the pain associated with the surgery (and I can take pain). Sleeping proved to be most difficult, and I could only sleep in an upright position with neck pillows to support my neck, and back pillows to support my back and legs. Even still, sleep did not come easy, and on the first night after I returned back to my accommodation, I would wake up every hour due to the muscle contractions. I ended up messaging Dr. Park on Kakao at 1:30am letting him know that I would need to visit his clinic earlier due to the pain and wanting a check-up. He ended up calling me minutes later but I missed his call because I somehow dozed off. I woke up again around 3:30am to see his missed calls and messages. I called him back right away and he said he could visit my accommodation if I wanted. I said I really appreciated his utmost care and attentiveness to my situation but that I would visit his clinic early in the morning. He said I could visit as early as I wanted, but I decided with 7am because it was a more reasonable time. At this time, I was thinking “is this surgeon Superman?”. How is he able to be up at all hours of the night attending to his patients and making house calls? He told me later that he is “unable to rest if I feel too painful above my endurance”. He’s truly an incredible and caring doctor that goes above and beyond for his patients.

When I went in for the check-up, Dr. Park investigated my condition and said everything was normal. I did not have an infection, and the pain I’m experiencing is expected. He said the first few days will be the most difficult and that I should not be afraid to up my pain medication intake to help with pain management. I religiously took my pain medication and hoped for the best. He also allowed me to sleep in the recovery room until his next patient required it several hours later. The nurses made sure I was comfortable and my partner and I fell fast asleep. When we awoke, the nurse came in and provided us with a menu, and told us to order anything we wanted for breakfast. We thought perhaps we could pay them later for the food but they really insisted that it was not necessary! The hospitality shown was unbelievable!

Every day for two weeks post-op, I visited the clinic for IV antibiotics. The nurses there were lovely and kind, and Dr. Park would check up on me to make sure my condition was improving. After he performed his daily allotted surgeries, he would spend time conversing with my partner and I. He entertained us with stories of his life when he was younger, and of his wife and kids. His stories were really entertaining and made my recovery that much more bearable. I’m generally a serious person by nature, but he was able to make me laugh really hard many, many times. He is a very well-rounded surgeon!

One morning I woke up with 2 gigantic canker sores in my mouth. I was unable to talk, or eat, and could barely drink water! I was told by Dr. Park and Dr. Paik that due to my recent two surgeries, this was a by-product of my weak condition. I was informed to visit an ENT doctor to treat this. When I went in for my rhinoplasty check-up, Dr. Paik offered to find me an ENT doctor close by, but I had also told Dr. Park about this on Kakao and he said he would get one of his nurses to bring me to an ENT doctor herself when I visited his clinic for my IV injections. Again, another example of where he goes above and beyond his duties as a breast surgeon, and showcases his care about your well-being 110%.

In another instance, my partner had asked Dr. Park for his recommendation on mole removal using laser treatment. Dr. Park said for his particular case, laser would not be beneficial due to the size and that it would need to be excised. My partner asked Dr. Park for clinic recommendations. Dr. Park instead offered to excise the mole free of charge, which my partner strongly declined and said he would most definitely pay for the mole excision. Dr. Park, because he had no surgery that day, then proceeded to perform the excision on the spot! I was even able to witness in the operation room! Another example of him going above and beyond his regular duties as a breast surgeon. My partner was ecstatic to finally be under Dr. Park’s care!

Sometime during the week, he invited my partner and I to lunch with his wife on the weekend. Dr. Park is a religious man, and has his faith in Christianity. He asked if we wanted to attend service with him and his wife before lunch. My partner and I accepted as we really enjoyed his company and were eager to meet his wife, whom we have heard great stories about. I won’t go into too many details about the service and lunch, as it’s unrelated to my surgery, but both events were wonderful – to summarize, his wife was lovely and they make an inspiring couple. They were just celebrating their 30 year anniversary and invited us to the hotel they were staying at for brunch – how sweet is that?! My partner and I both felt like we were intruding but they said they were happy to have our company!!

Dr. Park had also invited my partner and I to dinner with his wife during the last week of our stay. Dinner was exceptional, the restaurant was fantastic and one of the nurses (the one who brought me to the ENT doctor) also attended. It was a really fun and enjoyable evening, and a very sweet end to my breast augmentation journey with the clinic.

On the last day of check-up, my partner and I were quite sad because we came to associate the clinic as our second home. We vowed that we would return in one year just to visit the clinic again for their irreplaceable company and hospitality.

If you are considering breast augmentation, Dr. Park’s clinic should be one of the first on your list. His clinic is 100% local, and the right amount of “busy”. He says he gets a handful of foreign patients in a year due to “some reviews on the internet” (we all know it is TPF and Real Self), which these patients have told him about. He says he is proud of this as he does not advertise internationally. He definitely has enough local patients, but I think us foreigners considering breast augmentation deserve to have a surgeon that irrevocably cares about our well-being, not just how much money we bring in! I have never met a more considerate, attentive, and responsive doctor in all the years of my life!

To give an update on my breast augmentation condition, it’s been 2 weeks since my operation and I do still experience muscle contractions although not as hard or fast as in the first week. The breasts look great (they looked pretty great when the bandage was removed on the second day), although still very very swollen, perky (I want them to drop) and slightly larger than my liking due to swelling. They also still feel tight in the lower pole, and numb throughout (this is normal as the nerves take time to heal). According to Dr. Park, it may take 6 months to one year to fully soften up and adhere to the proper position.

Surgical Experiences Summary

I am really happy I went through with my surgeries! I’ve wanted rhinoplasty since I was 5 and breast augmentation since I was in my teens. I’m glad I did the right amount of research, had TPF threads to read up on night after night, and caring TPF friends to chat with (e.g., K Couture, and others whom I cannot name). I am thankful for a wonderful and loving partner who diligently took care of me throughout the difficult recovery period even though he underwent surgery himself. I am blessed to have two caring, meticulous and master surgeons perform my surgeries.

I am now patiently waiting for my body to recover from the trauma I put it through, and can’t wait to see the final results. I hope that my detailed review will be helpful to TPF, as others’ reviews were for me. Thank you to all the brave souls on TPF who undergo and post about their surgical experiences for the greater community. I hope my journey inspires more individuals to share their current and future surgical experiences so we can all benefit in the end. Best of luck to everyone who is considering or plan to undergo surgery in the future!

Congratulations on your successful surgery! Do you have the website for Ps101 as I am very interested in that clinic.

Congrats on choosing Dr. Park as your surgeon, you are in great hands!

Everyone's recovery is different but I can tell you my experience. The first 24 hours were the most difficult. Hard to move much at all and I needed some help from my partner with daily tasks. Afterwards, I was able to walk around everyday to help with deswelling.

For diet, I ate mostly rice porridge and soups, but that's also because I had rhinoplasty. Make sure to avoid all spicy foods. Dr. Park can also advise on what to eat/avoid.

For the incision, I'm currently using silicone tape for scar management. There are no complications thus far. Scars will take time to fade so patience is key.

Best of luck on your surgery!

A few questions though
How do you find performing all the normal daily task like changing clothes and going out after the surgery?
