Hi Mayfly,
I have a regular mabel and use it as my inflight bag when travelling. It recently came on holiday and comfortably held:
2 ipads, 2 blackberrys, 1 ipod touch, long lock puse, sunglasses & case, large TT wrap, large neon woodland wrap, 3 large bags of sweeties, ipad charger & adaptor, jewellery wrap, tissues, reading glasses & case, hairbrush, bal hip, fairground pouch & contents!!!
:wtf:

yikes -:giggles: that is a lot

I love mabel, I think she is a great workhorse of a bag(regular size) but still looks smart and professional and to my mind hasnt dated

Agree - I use a large black one for work- pluses for me

Goes on my shoulder
Secure- top zip and central strap- not popper
Holds laptop and a4 files
Pockets at front for easy access/security for keys etc
Flaps at front and back for easy access for papers - if on a train or at an airport

Brilliant bag- sad to see how little they go for on evilbay these days

Sounds fantastic! I'm definitely eyeing up the older designs, particularly in the light of the price hikes. I like the zippers and style but was concerned that the Mabel might be too wide to wear comfortably as a shoulder bag (always good to have that option!) :smile1:

No the regular is fine- its more of a handbag size- but even the large - loaded to the hilt- can be swung on to the shoulder when running for a train and is comfy to carry on there- as you can tell I do this a lot- fully loaded it would knock someone over if I catch them when swinging it on to my shoulder so live in hope I get the boss one day!!:D

Hee hee!! Stick a brick in there for good measure!! :D Actually, it sounds a fab little bag to have in my collection, although I keep promising myself a prune-out of non-used bags for fleabay before I purchase any more! (Some hope, that!) :D

Hey, gonna wake this thread from the dead! I've had a regular cognad Mabel for 4-5 years without ever getting much use of it. I'm not sure about the format, somehow we don't vibe together but there is something about the bag that makes it impossible to get rid of. So I thought I'd ask y'all about it and maybe I'll give it another chance before letting it go. So;

Do you still use your Mabel? How do you use it?
What functions have you found, and how do you utilise the different pockets and compartments?

Lol, you really have woken this one up from the dead, it'll be interesting to see if they are still in use. .............most of my Mulberry bags are long gone. I still love the old ones but they'd be too heavy for me now. I still have a Bayswater, Lily and Hairy Harriet which are firm keepers.

Wow, sweettoothannie, good for you waking this thread up!
Imo Mabels are wonderful, one of the best designed bags Mulberry ever made. Having said that, no longer have mine, as moved both on in a major cull of the herd, inc. one in goatskin I dearly miss to this day:hrmm: And so keep eye out for another to come along someday, so that tells you something.

Elvis and Moo stated Mabel's pluses so masterfully above. Cannot improve on their contributions 7 years ago!

I loved my Mabels for carrying capacity, organisational smarts and security. Used outer pockets for keys, phone, files, things I needed to reach quickly. Rest went inside secure central section. Great bag for travel and public transport, but also looks lovely on passenger seat! Very much admired her neat profile, quietly classic and understated. She would look good in any setting. Not trendy, not young, not instantly recognisable (except by Mulberry folk) but effortlessly chic. Best of all, easy to fling over shoulder or grab by the handles and run.

"Something about the bag that makes it impossible to get rid of" is a something we're all familiar with on here. I hope you will discover Mabel's raison d'être or alternatively, be able to let her go without regret if she's just not right for your life. Like Mulberrygal, will be interested to see what others have to say about her. Several eminent Mabelites out there will have insights into her virtues...come on, let's hear it for the fabulous Mabel:flowers:

Hi - it's best to take your Mabel for a spin or two, in different situations, and see how you feel. I have two small Mabels and will never sell them. They are beautifully designed bags, one of Mulberry's more complex designs, and their symmetry is very pleasing to the eye. Very underrated, and only achieve low prices on the secondary market but that's because they're an older style and no-one now really knows how lovely they are unless they've owned one, or more, in the past. But if you don't get on with Mabel, best to sell to someone who will!

Well this is pretty much is the reason I decided I'll keep the Mabel, your comment makes so much sense to me and you reminded me of all its pros. Thank you for taking the time to write me. <3

Yes, I got mine for around 150 USD, if I'm not mistaken. It really has gone under the radar, hasn't it... Thank you for your comment. <3
