Princess Caroline's children were all born in wedlock, but 2 were concieved out of wedlock.

Princess Stephanie's youngest child was born out of wedlock and is not in the line of succession for Monaco. Although Stephanie's first child was also born out of wedlock, she later married the father and thus the child was legitimized.

I had no idea they were all so erm... prolific. Oh well, the more the merrier I guess.

In/out of wedlock, legitimate child, had a child by this person & that person - it's like I'm reading about Royals from the 1600's. The modern royals aren't as out there, which is another reason to consider where Monaco is in the 'royal hierarchy'.

Albert, Stephanie, and Caroline's grandmother, Princess Charlotte of Monaco, Prince Rainier's mother, was actually illegitimate as well. She was the daughter of Prince Louis and a cabaret singer. Louis never married and had no siblings so there was no legit heir. He wound up adopting Charlotte to make her legitimate. She never actually ruled Monaco though, once Rainier had reached adulthood she forfieted her claim to him.
