That's a good question, but the upside of this approach is that they can introduce new styles to the Mon Mono collection anytime practically. They can take any canvas bag and make it Mon Mono, no extra work needed. It is very very easy for them now. So while the colour interior feels like something they might not bring back for a while, I wouldn't be surprised if the collection would gain new styles as soon as later this year.Oh! Is that why the speedy 20 isn't part of the collection? My view is that if it were more MTO/bespoke, it would be a direct competitor to Hermes MTO. Maybe they do have it and I'm unaware? I only know they do trunks bespoke.
I was looking to order something with the black leather trim but I guess I'll just look into the speedy soft dark.
They were offering that Hermès style MTO in the early 00's, any bag could be special ordered from any material, any hardware, etc... but that was back then when Vuitton was still a small company compared to the behemoth it is today. Now their factories are overwhelmed by the hundreds of new items introduced every month, so I totally see why managing true MTO would be a nightmare now as they are practically a gilded H&M. If they choose to offer them, they would probably cost a LOT, and my guess is that they did the math that very few people would pay 6-7000€ for a canvas speedy with silver hardware.
